2. Reduce the run time for some SBST services to increase the speed of bueses to make the trips faster, like 10, 39, 72, 81, etc. Improve frequencies for more services as well.
3. More demonstrators from other European makes and exploring green technologies, like the Mercedes Benz Citaro fuel cell bus, Volvo 7700 and B5L hybrids, etc.
4. SBST to extend some services like:
- 153 to Punggol northeast for links to Bukit Merah
- 111 to Punggol northeast via partially along KPE for links to city and the west
- 11 to Harbourfront via MBS southwards and Changi Airport eastwards via ECP after stadium, Eunos and Still road.
- 135 to Sembawang for links to Marine Parade for Yishun and Sembawang residents via Ang Mo Kio Ave 6, Lentor Ave, Yishun Ave 2 and Sembawang Road.
- 70 to Yishun for links to Paya Lebar, Serangoon and Geylang for Yishun residents.to fully utilise the under-used services during off peaks.
5. SBST to introduce a new bus service from Northeast to Northwest (117 proposal), an express service from Punggol to city (like former 501, 502), an airport bus service to the west (possiblity of re extending 506 back to airport), a service from Woodlands to Clementi via Bukit Batok (maybe take over 173 and extend to Woodlands)
6. Introduce guided bus system for SBST buses in parts of city areas where roads are very busy and crowded.
7. Completely ban new bendy/articulated buses in Singapore to ease jams along bus stops, bus interchanges and bus depots. Encourage use of double deckers instead. Optimizing space uses, increase efficiency and reduce waiting times.
8. SMRT buses to liquidate and shut down and bus operations are either transfered to SBST or a more competent bus operator. All Dennis Lances, Scania L113s, Nissan UDs, Hinos, DAFs, Mercedes Benz O405 CACs and MK1 bendy buses will be pharsed out. All bendy buses to be pharsed out within 5 years and replaced by new double deckers. Current former SMRT buses will be reconditioned by the new bus company or SBST.
SMRT taxis sold to Transcab.
9. Services under former SMRT bus will be amended:
- 858 to either restore to former Woodlands to Changi Airport via Yishun only route or spilt into 858-Yishun to Changi Airport, current Woodlands to Yishun to be merged and amended with 962.
- 966 to cut back to Bukit Panjang. Deleted sector from Woodlands to Bukit Panjang to be covered by 963.
- 77 and 106 to merge and form new service, which will be the trunk version of 971E.
- SBST to extend 187 to Sembawang.10. Government reliance for rail as backbone should be shifted to buses instead. Because if the whole rail system breaks down, buses are still the way to go for the public transport system. Rail is not fail proof and reliable and is not flexible at all. Root of the problem: Still the problem lies with overcrowding in this country.
If 70,135 went to sembawang and yishun,it will surely be SMRT services already and i don't agree SMRT to shut down the bus operation because If SMRT shuts down it bus operation then there will be no competition.
For your point 7, example..The bendies is at the front then a SBST DD is at the back.Of course it take up 1/half DD place but the SBST DD behind can either wait or just open the doors for the alighting passengers easy but for bad weather of course there is much more delay than the good weather situation.
Macro it up, and the buses behind has to wait at every single bus stop.
Anyway, I'd rather have direct bus rts plying semi express or using shortcuts like Bartley Rd East.
Of course, whenever possible minimum 1 feeder, min 1 trunk plying the neighbourhood...

If there had been any competition to start with, TIBS would have gone bust long ago already.
Precisely it might be in our interest to have unbridled competion and create a monopoly, than to artificially "create competition" and cause the problems today.
And bendies are irritating. Anybody who has driven down Little India on weekends/PHs will tell you that about the 67 bendies.
I think 67 these days pretty not frequent le..
Ytd saw 170 even more frequent than 67

bendies are irritating?i agree with you that Little india is very congested because many cars must go to that area in order to go to their destination BUT you can't blame fully on bendies..Then this is why government are building expressway to reduce the congestion at the rochor area.

240 already has Wright cameo. SBS7728P on 240 today.

If bendies are as useful as you claim and not as blame-worthy as you think, I am very glad that SBST agreed with me and refused to purchase any more bendies and even ditched their only 2. They even tried to get rid of 997A but evidently there were no takers.
Only TIBS persisted and for all the claims that nobody goes up the 2nd deck for the DD ( I ecountered this problem today), few move to the rear of the bendy either. As for "fast" unloading, this is absolutely pointless if the 2nd bus behind can't unload.
Ok, last but not the least, bendy supporters also have their points and while I contest those, it's nothing personal.
Direct bus service from AMK to Bukit Panjang.
My wish since 2004, I dont think will happen lar anyway just talk only....

28E (28 semi express route) to link bartley road to Bedok Rsvr loh....
to me, bendies are most useful for feeder services where it is the sole service running along the neighbourhood. only that.

Bendies are useful for high-capacity routes which ply along streets with height restrictions. Tibs put them on route 67, which was in a way a smart move. DDs require at least 4.5 metres of clearance, which isn't possible some of the time. Routes 16 and 105 need to have a few DDs but cannot get them as they pass under low bridges.

For Pt 4: I think 82 & 107 merge better as it gives PGL a direct link to CBD when NEL fails.
Pt 9: 77/106 and 971E serve different markets. Suggestion is virtually impossible to carry out.
Bring back route 148 as a EUN-BNV service, covering its former route between BNV and Chinatown, then via Suntec City, National Stadium, Marine Parade & Still Rd.

bleh... 166 is a disgusting route
1.Scrap 900 kubs and leave 200 of them alone.
2.SMRT should give up all their taxis elsewhere seriously. The taxis really r taking up too much space at the depots. They should just concentrate on their buses at their depots instead of overcrowding the depot ridiculously with the taxis. =.=
3.SMRT and sbst to buy a few of the new version of the Citaro.
4.It would be good if sbst bought a few Scania K310UDs instead of so many Wrights.

Scrap all E4 K230UBs is enough because I like the E5s very much.

Is that Toa Payoh Rise upgrading completed???? I think there might be some service link from thomson road to Toa Payoh lor one. there are two not in use bus stop next to the station. pull one service like 59 or 56 or 57 and link from there to bishan.
