now that the G/W plates become R/W, the svc no. becomes confusing. eg svc 231G/231W.

Those remains G/W.
It's only left 160 & 170 to use G/W for trunk svs
I think so far has only seen 3 or 4 front desto w/ Kota Raya
which goes to wondering how come LTA could say 170 & 170X are 2 diff sv... Diff terminating points and 170X buses could go to Larkin if need be
like tis isn't need to keep on adjust e ez-link system which would affect iris reading.

160-170-170B iris never accurate one la... so dun waste money go and crazily send sms to them for your 5-cents or 10-cents to fly away.
To say JB-SIN buses are rather confusing, but if you actually see it another way it should be simple la...
170R: Queen St <-> Larkin
CW1: Kranji MRT <-> Larkin
CW2: Queen St <-> Larkin
SJE: Queen St <-> Larkin
TS1: Kotoraya -> Changi Airport -> Kotoraya
TS8: RWS <-> Kotoraya
170B: Kranji MRT <-> Kotoraya
950: Woodlands <-> Kotoraya
AC7: Yishun <-> Kotoraya
I ever experience jams just inside Larkin because of the spamming of those express coaches... and waited for more than 10 minutes in that warm CWL 666 MAN just for the bus to reverse out of the bay. go out alr still have to wait for about 5 minutes for the bus to get out of the terminal. That should be roughly the reason why JB -> SIN 170R buses always lambat, and requires 170B buses to go do 170R, since in anyway 170B buses are slacking at kotoraya with at least 3 "friends". But i tell you SIN -> JB 170R no problem... i take from JB CIQ to larkin no jam seh....
The best way to avoid 170 is to take CWL, but if you cant bear with the distance fare scheme after alighting from kranji then feel free to take your 170 to larkin. best way to go kotoraya is 160 :P
I already confirmed that CW1/CW2 doesn't serve kotoraya. i see no causewaylink buses at the terminal, when i see tons of causeway link CW1/2 at larkin.

eh 160 & 170 iris never accurate at Opp Kranji is because of the run time allocation along Woodlands Rd. Best is to spot e bus at Ten Mile n give it some 10 mins to arrive.
Tat 5 mins is normal la if you figure int like Boon Lay or Jurong East.
CW1 & CW2 is layover at Larkin, CIQ there hard to layover or unless they now terminate at Larkin full day.
if there's CWL, usually it means CW1 & CW2 has limited ops hours to Larkin. In fact tat's how it appeared in the past.
Unless like mentioned abv, now CW1 & CW2 plies to Larkin
I hope SBS will do something about the numbering soon, since in future, after the Volvo B10Ms, the buses used are only to be EDS.

W'DLANDS X-ING 170B
> KOTARAYA II. TER
These 170X often ponten for some time belt one.
Sometimes I figured it's the issue of coaches in the front.

There should be a need for public bus lane in the causeway to avoid such jams and more accurate timings and journeys for these cross boarder public bus services.

in any case the jam is unlike e 1980s or 1990s alrdy, the CIQ is much bigger. Any jam is still moveable.
On Sun, the lorry lane is free for buses to use
The prob w/ 160 & 170 is over dispatch. 170X has no issue at all. It's becoming a habit to wait 1 hr for 170 during the PM peak hours. It's e same for 160
Sometimes on another pov, 170 is prone to DTL related jams as it's along 60% of its route.
Come to think of it, ever saw tis on a Chinese written blog
It posted tat some tourist was made to pay RM1.20 to get to Larkin from JB CIQ on CWL. The article claimed they started their bus journey from Kranji.
Sounds fishy because it smell of the WikiTravel.
Though it makes some sense, 'thru' payment $1.305 aft currency conversion from Kranji.
Bef it becomes a distant memory, remember the cmi JB CIQ opening day
170 blue plate can pretty much all ply to larkin alrd

good la
it also means time to spend to improve 160's freq
170 Blue Plate started out as an informal service (probably after Woodlands Extension opened), before specialised plates were made, the shortworking buses simply had the number 170 covered by an SBS logo. These operated between Kranji and Larkin
170 shortworking only started using their own plates when shortworking trips and plates were introduced for SBS services systemwide (remember those bus stop plates with two shades of teal/green). However, the SBS logo was still widely used to denote a shortworking 170. This was around 1998 to 1999. During this period, a 170A was also introduced between Queens St and Kranji, using DM Mk IIs (which were never Malaysian registered).
Then came the current Blue plate a few years down the road, when Kotaraya II was used for cross border routes. On paper, they operate between Kranji and Kotaraya II, but they hardly stuck to such routing, many of them follow the old shortworking 170 operations all the way to Larkin.
Dunno whether there was any shortworking trips before Woodlands Extension opened.
I think before SWT came abt WDL Extn, 170 had even weird ops
Should there be jam at Woodlands CIQ (The old small CIQ tat is), the buses on local leg will abandon heading into JB.
