I was strange about one thing:
I noticed that sometimes 170 starts from Larkin, but with the blue desto at the front and side, terminating at Kranji MRT. Why is this so?
tis usually occurs whenever e full trip buses lambat.
Tat's why if the queue for Larkin is too long, e available 170X will be dispatched to Larkin instead.
usually peak periods you will see this
morning peak, can see many Kranji >> Larkin 170 blue plate... while some 170Blue will turn back kranji
only like every20mins will a 170 blue turn to Kota Raya
Kota Raya not much ppl using le cos of JB Sentral, might as well let it go to Larkin and save it from CBD area bus jam along Jln Tun Abdul Razak.
Good also, CW1 dun even serve Larkin
I think those fixed to Kota Raya has "JB Kota Raya" as front desto
Some of e 170X buses has the "Larkin" front plate as well. Something like 155 or St Michael sv style
The reason why 170X was amended to Kota Raya 2 Terminal last time was because Malaysia did not want SBST to snatch business from those Malaysia Public Transports at Larkin Terminal.

There was 170X all along alrdy but it was never official.
Simply because they terminate at CS along Jln Tun Abdul Razak under e old traffic layout. U-turn back at flyover.
As far as I remembered back at Old WDL CIQ there was 170 blue plate alrdy. It's likely from e commencement of Woodlands Extn.
In fact e Woodlands Extn teased ppl badly. SJE's biz ever since then dwindled

Yes. The 170 blue plate with just 'Johor Bahru' were gone.
I saw 170 (Blue) many times at Larkin from 2005 to Nov 2006, the latest in October 2010.

Not many are using w/ Kota Raya plates.
I wonder y SBS don renumber 170X to 160A or 160M since it duplicate the 160 sector from kranji to kota raya.
I guess JB auhorities don allow???

160 came later on
Furthermore it's not surprising M'sian commuters does not even know e existance of 160. 1/2 is freq cmi, 1/2 is really dunno

Many ppl have become confused w/ e blue plate alrdy.
Sometimes even those M'sian pax thought e Red Plate 170 os Kranji MRT Stn goes back to JB.
I think e prefix gotta do w/ 170A back then
bef ppl forgot
170A was withdrawn on e day 170 became FAC in late 2001. Fleet was mostly made up of BBDEP's DM MKII. It plied from Queen St > Kranji Stn.
I believe 170A existed because of the Weekend jams on Causeway at the Old CIQ. Back then the jam is terrible due to the clearance capacity.

actually even if they put red plate and change to blue plate after JB CIQ or Woodlands CIQ also nobody knows. what matters is the buses departing Woodlands CIQ.

more like PTC won't allow since it's a very different route still in singapore context. putting 160 as 170M will confuse people who are heading to both Larkin and Queen St, who might end up at Jurong East!

towards Larkin got side desto issue. but some buses got the Larkin 'green' plates
the most sure way of looking where the bus is going from the CIQ is the small front desto at the windscreen.

come to think of it
the Larkin front plates are displayed from Kranji at times.
Saw 2 plates bef
"JB Kota Raya" & "Kranji MRT" pair w/ "JB Larkin" & "Kranji MRT" pair

Why don't they paint the destos into red and white in the first place?

Isn't Green/ White e original plates SBS used back in 1990s?
I think leave it alone la, esp it now double calls Woodlands Centre and furthermore M'sian passengers are harder to get them de.
Else how come 170 was last to do away w/ conductor until 1994.
LOL my suggestion is 170(Kota raya) renumber as 160A or 160M... Short n simple. sometimes the blue/red plate can be confusing...
170 is like a housebrand number le la

No renumbering. And it isn't confusing.
