Quick summary:
Some upgrading or amendment works is being done to berth A1 - A8 at Yishun Int.
Expected completion is Q2 2011
KTPH Shuttle is now moved to berth B6 (in between of 812 and 851)
857 is now sharing queues with 855 (similar design of queue railings as 85 and 39) and now uses berth A23 and A24.
Progress:
2011.01.09 - Drilling is going on and the corrugated metal shelters have already been removed for first 3 berths.
2011.01.21 - Drilling seems to be done for first 3 berths, bricks have been rearranged on the concrete slab infront of the berth.
And also, wondering how will the 857 bendies park now? if they do it the same way as before they will block 855's berth. Reversing out will also be tricky.
LOL... never build one more new shopping centre and call it South Point?

If bendies in HBF or the Old BNL can reverse out nicely with that little amount of space, i dont see why YIS cant be the same ?

South Point is a office building located somewhere near KTM stn.

The bendies in HBF have alot of space to reverse into. There is no such space in yis int. Also, u might want to know that berth A23 and A24 are at the end, which means u need to reverse pretty far out before u can turn towards the exit.
anyone went down to A23 berth to see how the bendies operated?
Think they are removing the shelters for berth 1 to 23, which will be good. More airy.
At least maybe can see double deckers for 39 in future or any new SBST services in future in Yishun.
Dun think Yis will accept any new SBST new service there..

I don't think Sv39's demand is that high..

You will never know. Yishun needs a bit more bus services for some better connectivity. Maybe a few premium bus services for a start.

Maybe one or two for peak hours for the higher demands.
Some updates.
The project is titled "BFA Enhancements to existing interchange" on the boards. A quick search gives "Barrier Free Access".
This makes much sense. 857 is operating with OC500LEs, 39 with KUBs. 853 to soon follow suit after amendments to ktph. But all end on berths at yishun interchange is currently unable to accomodate to any PIW to board or alight. The only current WAB berth is at berth 4, and is used for 851 811 171 boarding. This is probably why the first few end on berths are being renovated to allow piw to be able to board.

Premium services shld not even touch the interchange in my opinion. You can have access and pick up almost everyone in yishun (except yishun central) by simpily going around the ring road once. If the premium starts from the interchange, it pretty much defeats the purpose of being fast and direct, because residents which are living in most part of yishun will have to first do a transfer to yis int which increases the travelling time by a chunk.
Doesnt make sense since Yishun Int gonna be upgrade to A/C int soon

How soon? The plans was released in the URA Master Plan 2008 (access here) and the latest news is to have it done earliest by 2013.
No action has been taken to prepare a site for temporary interchange, nor has any action been taken to inform residents living in the shophouses o/s the int that their house/shop have to be returned to the govt to make way for the interchange (generally they will announce 1 to 2 years in advance, look at the recent North South Expy's case).
I don't think the conversion of 857/39 to WAB should be delayed due to the wait for a temp interchange to be built. Accessibility of bus services in sg to PIW is already way behind many cities and something should be done to address this and not delay it further.
