Accident and Breakdown Thread 2011

  TIB891C broke down right in front of me. SL said cause was during to engine overheat. Smoke was seen and water (assumed to be dissel) leaking out of bus. Bus parked near road shoulder. SL opened engine cover and a loud noise was heard for 15 mins. The SL then offed the EDS and Engine after ard 25 mins.

  Time of Breakdown: 1708

  Service: 188

  Broke down along Upp Thomson Rd (Opposite Thomson CC), heading towards Sembawang.

  Breakdown triangle seen, no pax or driver. Witnessed 910am.

  SMB138Y on 963 (WLDEP 963) broke down at Bukit Panjang Road (Blk 223) Bus Stop towards Harbourfront Int at about 6:30pm.
  
  Reason for breakdown: Unknown.
  
  Front engine cover opened up for checks.
  Bus drove off after inspection with 963 EDS on.

  Unknown UMW Lance with Yamie ad(if i never see wrongly), broke down at bus stop opposite Blk 639(Wdl ave 6). Reason unknown. Confirm doing off service or training as WLDEP don't have lances.

  can see a lot of SMRT buses broke down in July.... the last 10 posts all talk about SMRT buses....

  Good mah,At least knock some cow sense into their brains that their maintenance staff should have concentrate maintain their buses top priority rather than service Singtel and other vehicles.Who ask them to be so greedy given their current maintenance strength?

  SBS7538X (ARBP 95) broke down at Jurong East Ave 1 (Blk 316) while doing Service 99. Engine cover is open and breakdown triangle spotted. Time of Spotting: 1713 hrs*

  SBS9569T (ARBP 14)

  West bound trip brokedown along Upper East Coast Rd at 7.30am at the bus stop outside Calvary Ably of God Ch. Reason uknown but BC were seen inspecting the back of the bus with some object dangling out at the engine compartment

  i remember seeing 940U breakdown on 167 on 4th Jul at Thomson Road near the PIE... the whole tyre came off. joke.

  Shouldn't the driver of that block ask for a change, If he has the feeling that the condition of the bus, especially if the impression of it gives you that it is going to snap at any part of the day? 

  Likewise for SBST is it allowed for the driver to take a different bus if the impression to the driver looks like it is going to snap anytime?

  It was when SBS9844Z's right main (!) wheel fell off at Woodlands Int (SMRT territory for SMRT to laugh at), and when it was still a fairly new (HAHA) bus.

  The bus was left tilted on the right side at the exit as it was leaving Woodlands...bus hadn't even started the journey proper, and the wheel fell off!

  And around the same time period, a 161 VSO was stopped by TP along SLE for speeding (ooh-lala)....so who says VSOs can't speed? And yes...that's a JOKE.

  Moral of story: Whatever SMRT has had, why would SBST not have experienced it?

  Anyway... Unknown SMRT O405 rigid broke down along Lentor Ave before SLE viaduct towards YCK. Was on TIB1081S Sv854. Cant see rego or EDS. Engine cover open, no maintenance lorry on sight. Spotted about 1735hrs
