They will never paint the full picture and they do not want to too... haiz.
What do they mean by "adding more bus trips during peak hours"? Never mention how they going to do it. Adding more buses is fine, but if they do re-scheduling, I rather they don't add any bus trips cos non-peak trips will be compromised.

For SBS's terminology it's usually additional S Shift. Unless stated it's ADD replacing SD.
For 180, I'm pretty sure there's no effect. The additional buses effect all tio makan by scheduling issues. So far alrdy has been brunching for 180 heading to BPJ as early as at Lakeside.
wonder which service will hav a fleet reduction...for 60's case are they referring to the deployment of more wrights?
3 Since 14 November 2010, SMRT has deployed higher capacity Bendy buses to two of its heavily-utilised services - Service 180 and Service 806. SMRT has also added more bus trips on Service 806 during the morning and evening peak periods to further increase its capacity.
SMRT had recently received new bendies? I would not wish to see it's other bus services being affected to accomodate above changes. LTA should access if SMRT has sufficient resources to run reliable and comfortable services. Else LTA should consider to remove those services from SMRT.
Sv 119 removed from QoS le..
Rest need to go dig one of these days
List QoS
In: 35
Out: 119
Do they mean weekend fleet for 180???
Rigid becomes bendy?
Or that TIB608E weekday PM split perm is now replaced by a bendy?
Arent permers for 180 already bendy buses liao????

they have enough spare bendies to go around i believe. every bus company have spare buses to accomodate such redeployments.

Ya, they meant by taking some bendies from services like 851, 960.
If LTA to remove some services from SMRT, first to go should be 190.

Where is the list of services under QoS available?
Someone shld just look into 72. The night-time frequency is REALLY horrible. 20 minute frequency with just slightly lower than peak hr loading up till past 11pm. Its one of the worst if not the worst in terms of night-time frequency.
After so many years, no changes. Last time, the queue stretch beyond the railings by 1 line is considered normal. These days it can stretch past 2 lines!
And it reaches Hougang Int, the same scenario is repeated.

Convert 1X split shift ASD to ADD (Wright)

I think SBST is trying to deploy Wright DDs on 60. Recently during my joyride, I saw Wrights and only 1 or 2 KUBs from Bedok to Eunos trip.

Fyi, to know which svs are QoS or not:
1) 1 hr peak within peak
2) Only applies to peak direction. Non peak just does not exceed 95% loading.
3) Max 10 mins headways.
119 is likely to have reduction of 1 S shift. Sv 35 is now 10 mins AM/ PM peak freq.

Service 119 load is better during AM period especially after the re-opening of Kovan market when aunties are done with their marketing.
But sad to see the decline for ridership, remembered during the heydays when it had DDs (remembering seeing upper deck is fully seated while lower deck is packed to the door, after students just finished school)
Perhaps this service could be amended to serve Hougang Ave 7 area to allow better connectivity to residents living in that area.
Suggested Route:
Hougang Ave 8 (Normal Route)
Three suggestions
1) continue straight to Ave 7, turn right to Ave 5 then turn left to Upp Sgn Rd
2) continue straight to Ave 7, turn right to Ave 5, Hougang Central, turn left to Ave 4, and turn right to Upp Sgn Rd (help out Sv 112)
3) continue straight to Ave 7, turn right to tampines rd, turn right to ave 3 then turn left to Upp Sgn Rd (help out Sv 81)
and vice versa for the return route

Actually 119 I guess it's best to leave it as it is because the most they just cut down R shifts.

As a resident "upstream", I wish to preserve 119 as it is than to go into ave 7 so that it can serve the "hotspots" like Hougang plaza and the schools along Upp S'goon road, although I admit the reality that 136 is the preferred choice for obvious reasons.
I would say since 119 sort of similar route to 112 (as in cover Kovan), the ave 7 folks wont appreciate its presence and in holistic view, only pax like students of schools in Sengkang will benefit than the majority. Now ave 7 with only 112 is relatively "cold" esp the side along the river, unless you're bringing a route like 80 along there, if not it ain't so much change.

Understood what you have mentioned.
From Sgn JC area/Hg Plaza area to Rivervale and vice versa till to Kovan MRT, Sv 136 is faster and cheaper than Sv 119.

i share your sentiments.. sv72 is a very very terrible service non-peak hours, always 15-25mins per trip. always late to depart
the queue at YCK can stretch till the MRT steps.
at tampines, must go all way out of railings then the bus can come.
119 and 136... the goodwill services
like a newly listed stock, once it commenced ops, shot to the top, high flyer, darling of HG/ Sengkang with MPs, Carnivals, new VSOs etc in the picture..
now, back to reality like some chao penny stock.. poor frequency, low loads, probably another partly written off service like 115

how about 88 during off peak hour? wait longer than 72 at hougang area.

I've always appreciated the fact that 88 usually leaves the int on time. And the BCs drive at ok speeds. And the night-time frequency is still tolerable.
72 is not.
72 is almost always late on departure, and the BCs take their own sweet time. Because its been so many years already, its obvious that its the schedule that needs some tweaking. The bus can drive at fantasically slow speeds along PLAB stretch and the bus can still be considered early.
But ok. Because its night, my standards have to be lowered. But 72's loading is more jialat than 88 at YCK, Tampines, and Hougang Int. And a significant portion of the people who take 88 from AMK to get to HG can take a number of other buses as well. 72 doesnt have much viable alternatives from Tampines to HG, which does make me extremely fed up and pissed at times.
Last time, 2 lines beyond the railings at Tampines = sibei jialat, now its considered extremely normal.
Sv 98 at lakeside MRT sometimes ppl refuse to go upper deck if DDs when bus is heavily packed. BC got to ask them to move up for many times. most of them are alighting at taman jurong which is few stops away.

I still remember SBST re-introducing service 119 due to the complains which were made by Sengkang residents regarding the loss of link along Rivervale areas after the withdrawal of former service 85 (Sengkang - Harbourfront).
But true enough service 119 really suffered a number of downgrades over this 2 years. Firstly the 2 ADDs were removed and replaced by the Volvo MK4s. It even lost one of the 2 Scania K230UB perms (SBS8491P) when service 113 went WAB in Feb this year.
