SINGAPORE: Bus commuters have been overcharged some $300,000 since distance-based fares kicked in on 3 July.
This was revealed after an island-wide bus stop review by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) found errors in actual distances measured between bus stops.
Commuters have also been undercharged some S$100,000 in the same period due to these mistakes.
About 150 bus services have been affected by the errors. They ply routes passing some 100 bus stops across the island.
LTA says all errors will be corrected by Friday.
Commuters who have been overcharged will have a six-month window from 18 December to obtain refunds.
Notices will be put up at affected bus stops and bus interchanges from Tuesday on how commuters can get the refunds.
The public transport operators will bear the costs of undercharging.

4) Punggol Rd > Opp IJC Sv 161: reduction of dist by 0.9km.
5) Sv 182 RCC > SAF PLC, overcharged by 1.4km.
188R/ 188E overcharged seriously only draws questions, how come for them can go culmulative dist, 188 parent route still bus stop by bus stop.
Some bus stops still not corrected yet like Farrer Rd.

Opp Suntec City to OS Mountbatten Sq > 0.81

ooooh!!
Its an honest mistake!
this happens only once in 50 years!!
No amount of measuring would had prevented this.
I will be worried if there is no overcharging
If commuters were to be overcharged by $30 million, so be it! Its for the benefit of all!
they will never admit or change some mistakes..
156/159 from sengkang.. first stop.. barely 50m... they charge 200m.
epic one is the Bras basah - serangoon.
so much for being cheaper better faster.. IRONIC!
many first stops from interchange, is like that.. some world class engineering indeed
they should gain goodwill from the public, and to measure distances from interchange, right at the entrance/exit of the interchange, not from the berth itself... greedy to such an extent! give commuters the benefit of doubt!
bth!
now 160/170 route will be shortened again.. we see how many month they take to "realise"

now Jurong East becomes 0.9km. They take e longer distance. Even like 179, to 1st stop 0.8km, return is 0.5km.
They seriously own themselves only.
160 & 170 is next yr fully implement tat new road.
now 902 decoupled from 169 in distance.
That's why when they tell me bus should charge like taxi by distance, they've owned themselves.
End up now same routing diff distance, worst than taxi
e CCL one is kena owned
Talked so much spend e $$ to divert ppl away from CTH, RFP.. End up? Sorry, fares still based on longer journey via CBD cos I clocked in your walking distance..
Eh, wat abt Bishan to Paya Lebar?
I think e govt scholars are a confused lot themselves. Today say A, tml end up think or mention B.
those who take 36 home daily overcharged 1.2km each day..... for months.......
Its hard enough to find out whether you've been overcharged, its even harder to come up with the proof to make the claim, and its way more difficult to get it back.
Instead of wasting everybody's time, isn't better to disemburse that overcharged amount directly through the system? How about switching back to the fare stage system? Wow, did I just say that?
Question is...was the policy good?
Unhappiness + those who are happier = net happiness
So was there net happiness?

Net happiness of consumer or service provider?
If they undercharge, all commuters MUST pay for the remaining fares.
If commuters overcharge, commuters MUST go and check themselves.
)(**(#$)@*!!!!!
why so troublesome?
why dont they give the refund on each commuter's next travel?
with everything computerised nowadays i am sure there are better ways to do it.
anyway they know very well a lot of people wont be bother coz its ONLY a few cents.
the trouble and the time take definitely surpassed the overcharged-amount. refund or not its a lose-lose situation for commuters.
anyone knows who is the one who came up with the distance fare idea? a scholar?
why cant they just auto refund?
