Jalan Sungei Poyan, another next episode will feature a road from Old Choa Chu Kang Road all the way to Pasir Laba Road, as Lorong Danau has prepared already.
I just made public suggestion - route 172 extension onto Jalan Sungei Poyan onto sgforums.

There's already a transport for that. its called the 5 ton.
If u even try to drive a non off-road vehicle into the area, i can guarantee u cant get out of the place. The road is not even paved.

what is 5 ton?

A military jargon used to denote trucks which can carry up to 5 tons of load. In the SAF, it is usually a MAN 16.484 LAERC.

Another question: If you drive a car, motorcycle, taxi, or bus in, what is going to happen?

you wont get into the military training area at all. You will be turned back...

to where? What are the structures that can prevent cars from going in to the road (like concert slabs in depots).

who will ask you to turn back?

the roads not suitable for non off road vehicle.
i drove there on a rainy day with my 5ton and it made all the passengers at the back squirm.
not sure whether the small gates are still there though
restricted access to military training area
tat's a restricted road ever since the kampongs has been cleared
tat also explains why 206 no longer operates
http://www.twa.com.sg/sbh/gallery_pics.html Go to Chapter 399 and see what happens. Can you see Jalan Sungei Poyan, or Lorong Danau, or both?
jaan sungei poyan... its live firing area.. i been there before.. went to fire the GPMG..
the view there is marvellous... quiet and tranquil. the horizon u can see the second link. foreground, its like a lagoon or a quarry (cos fire down from a hilltop).
its like the poyan reservoir, TG Skopek area at the western live firing range.
hope you guys get to see it when u enter or during your NS.
PS. when i went to the jln sungei poyan, we went by the private hire bus.. normal tyres.. not by tonner.

I think u might be mistaken, thats not jalan sungei poyan, thats actually one of the pasir laba ranges.
If u are going to enter from jalan sungei poyan to that range, prepare to enjoy a very bumpy ride on whatever vehicle.
Its however possible to enter till a limited area via jalan sungei poyan, the last time i remember theres dump trucks doing construction or something. But its not possible to go through till pasir laba road.
Last time there was an SBS service 450 going into Pasir Laba Road. Does it go all the way to Poyan Reservoir???

Correction, it's 16.284.
Cheers.

Which restricted road? Service 206 did not ply any restricted road.
There is a muddy dirt track from a point along Pasir Laba Road going all the way to Old Choa Chu Kang Road End (where service 405 made a 3 point turn outside National Shooting Centre). I travelled thru it on a 3 tonnes, very bumpy ride. Along some part, there are steep cliffs on both sides of the track. The whole of this track is in a live firing area, out of access to public.
LOL.... Not worth it. 172 commuters would be screaming and yelling and complaining about wastage of time. SMRT wont do that also. It will have lesser commuters on 172 if it amends.
