What to do govt want multi-modal tpt co,SMRT majority train minority buses wjile SBST majority buses minority train,All got pros n cons.This is what happen when such a small country with huge population,Everywhere also many people...
The solution is simple, split up high capacity routes for 2 operators to operate just like in HK...
or run almost parallel svcs with different start/end terminals
or Express sector
Eg.
190 > Choa Chu Kang to New Bridge Rd
190A > Bukit Panjang to Queen St Terminal
190X > Choa Chu Kang to New Bridge Rd, skipping stops in between...
If the planners[gahmen] actually go do their homework, the problem would have been solved.

With the govt wanting to open up the market to a possible 3rd operator...
The rules has been change.
West =/= SMRT
East =/= SBST
anything is possible.

West area belongs to SBS Transit. Bukit Panjang is in Northwest. Check your facts before posting.

That will be great. Love to see double deckers on 190 again. Maybe for 184, and some Bukit Batok Services as well.

I think SMRT is better off with North area only and provide a decent bus service there should be their responsibility.
Long before TransIsland came into the picture, woodlands was served by SBS which put DDs on their routes, 138 was one of them
I like tis:
West =/= SMRT
East =/= SBST
=)
In fact I prefer SMRT to take back SENGKANG/PUNGGOL, the MRT/LRT can still be under SBS.
Transport minister Raymond Lim sat on bus service 960 two times and declared services/frequecies of bus services in Bt Panjang have overall improved..... LL - What a joker we have!

Because SMRT knows how to play freq
see 963... peak within peak 15 mins slot, 4 mins per bus.. outside 10 - 20 mins a bus...
But still meet QoS wat.
Seriously 177 is another joker
no schedule at all.. SL ownself control.. 2 mins layover at BPJ bef departing for BBT.
Raymond Lim should try 177, cos MINDEF ppl take one
Theortically SMRT is in better shape than SBS.
NSL/ EWL is as good as free of charge given to them, only need to fret day to day maintenance, wages and so on.
Yet MRT reliaibility is terrible these days. Train delay no one bothers, even for crowd control. It's just tat many of these delays never go reported.
Boon Lay MRT crowd control is epic fail. Criss crossing at concourse level. SMRT bo chap say cannot have entry at JP2 facing cos no control room..
KNS, then Ion Orchard tat access is??? double standard cos tourist use Orchard lots, nid to show SMRT very kilat... Actually all these are done by LTA.
Now SPH (from ZB, true or not dunno) say SMRT purchased 22 train. Then ask her and Temasek to pay LTA those taxpayers $$, secure a 10 yr bank loan and pay for the 22 trains for real. Not even BOT, act like BOT.
SBS on e other hand, most of e assets have to use own $$ to procure and maintain.
So which margin is higher no nid to say.

There is. 15 minutes per bus. The best thing is the MINDEF bus stop is dual sharing for both directions and does not have any route details map... just a sign indicating BUS STOP.

Based on the crowd, he probably took it at 850am (since it was reported he took during peak hour).
Still Peak hour, but people start work at 8am - 930am (office) or 1030am - 1130am (retail), so there isnt really a crowd at 850am.
If not there could be an additional special bus that day to welcome him.

1640 - 1730 still ok.. am peak still ok
but aft 1730.... gg... once last car departed BPJ at 1840, where the prev trip departed at 1810.
Perfect Solution: Have a dual operator for Service 190. Simple solution.
do wat SBS does for 179A lor
AM peak as usual. PM peak alternate trips from 27231.
But wait, 'we do not plan additional short working trips because we've one already'
I think 180's freq also siao siao one
1 time slot of say 10 mins siao siao 2 mins per bus, aft tat 10 mins.. bef 11 mins..
still meet QoS.
2 mins per bus is as good as waiting for entire Bt Panjang area to get flooded w/ excess capacity, after which not enough buses
Tis same goes to how SMRT plan MRT schedule prev.. 4 mins, then spam 1 min, 1 min, then make u wait 7 mins at 0730 am peak hrs bef 1 min, 1 min.
Then tell you sorry train cannot wait got max dwell time.
Seriously I dunno how they plan this elite schedule one.
I think tat's how SMRT can say train never 1400 per trip

Time for new services to surface in SMRT areas.
