LOL!28%So sad50%Sure or not?14%Bochup1%A bus caught fire at the Tampines bus interchange today (Oct 28) at 2pm. Eyewitness, STOMPer Del, said that the bus captains tried to help to put out the fire before SCDF arrived on the scene.
The STOMPer recounted:
“I was returning back to the office after lunch with my colleagues when we witnessed the bus catching fire there.
“We saw that the bus captains tried to help put out the fire before the fire engines arrived on the scene.
“The SCDF came and they used their fire hose and attached it to the water point near the bus interchange canteen there.
“There was a hole in the rubber and the water started leaking.
“The SCDF guys tied up the part of the hose that had a hole but the water continued to leak.”
STOMPer Muhd Haziq was also nearby and he sent in some photos of the incident.
STOMP contacted the SCDF and a spokesman said:
“We received a call about the fire at 2pm.
“We dispatched two fire engines to the scene.
“The fire involved the engine compartment of an off-service bus.
The fire was extinguished with one water jet within eight minutes.
“No one was hurt.”

You know, the bus can't seem to shift gears at all until it reaches max rpm. Seriously, never seen another B10M rev that high. It's literally screaming before the gearbox shifts with a huge jerk. Once saw the Rev counter hit 2800RPM before shifting. Another fun fact about the bus: The interior smells like crayons somehow.
Oops. Thank goodness I took it a few days ago, but it's gearbox seems to be fixed when I took it that day, no high revving like in SBS987D during last year(now fixed also). Anyway my fav type of bus is also strider, so I hope it can be repaired=(
I realised that BN buses at Tamp int arent maintained well
Firstly, when i boarded the bus, there is no aircon
2. The motors are on when its parking there
3. When the bus is overcrowded, its too stuffy
4. Due to the weather today
As expected, not enough rest for these buses though.
Think that bus has some trouble, was there just now. There were two person on board the bus at the time of the incident, the person that started the bus don't seem to be a regular bus driver but rather looks like a maintenace tech, he was wearing white while the other was in a light yellow green shirt.
When he started the bus engine there was this loud cracking popping sound being heard and in a split second there were flames coming out from the middle with burning diesel leaking out onto the concrete bus bay. Some people who were waiting in the bus interchange got panic and ran, the best is the two persons on board didn't even know that the bus was on fire until thick black smoke formed and a bus captain ran out and frantically waved to get them off the bus while several bus captain tried putting out the fire with fire extinguishers. There were smell of burning rubber all over.

Kaoz... thankfully the bus driver bothered to wave to them to get off the bus... if not we would have seen two salted fish liao....
I hv one question need to ask you guys.
I ever saw bus driver when waiting for green light, they love to press the accelerators and the engine sound getting louder....but the bus still waiting for green light. Why is that so?
Waste fuel?

Buses uses compressed air for its brakes system, and therefore reving the engines is to build up air in the air tanks.
Haiz last time a perm 506 bus.... :(

@dragg, are you being sarcastic? If you aren't, the answer is yes. It shouldn't be that much of a surprise.
Poor bus.
Hope it will be fixed. Please don't scrap it, SBST.
Anyone knows the fate of this bus yet? Hope that SBS1932E can be repaired and not leave me to join SBS9888Y
