A bus caught fire at the Tampines bus interchange today (Oct 28) at 2pm. Eyewitness, STOMPer Del, said that the bus captains tried to help to put out the fire before SCDF arrived on the scene.
The STOMPer recounted:
“I was returning back to the office after lunch with my colleagues when we witnessed the bus catching fire there.
“We saw that the bus captains tried to help put out the fire before the fire engines arrived on the scene.
“The SCDF came and they used their fire hose and attached it to the water point near the bus interchange canteen there.
“There was a hole in the rubber and the water started leaking.
“The SCDF guys tied up the part of the hose that had a hole but the water continued to leak.”
STOMPer Muhd Haziq was also nearby and he sent in some photos of the incident.
STOMP contacted the SCDF and a spokesman said:
“We received a call about the fire at 2pm.
“We dispatched two fire engines to the scene.
“The fire involved the engine compartment of an off-service bus.
The fire was extinguished with one water jet within eight minutes.
“No one was hurt.”

What is the rego?
No idea... Pictures on stomp too small to see the rego...
SBS1932E?
Why so many buses catching fire now?
Weather too hot?
Yes. is SBS1932E on 69... noticed the place it was parked.. it was on 18 parking area (also former 291 parking)
RIP the only strider on 69 is gone.
I got a fewling that this bus gonna become spare parts when future striders kena accident.
Front part looks perfectly fine... i guess the back is perfectly fine too!
But surely the inside is gone from the centre towards the back.
Unlikely to be revived, I guess...
wth
SBS1932E ..
It can be repaired bah... not like SBS1921L...
Ah, it has finally caught fire. Took this bus almost every other day for the past 4 years on Svc 69 and was wondering daily when the engine or gearbox might blow up. You know, the bus can't seem to shift gears at all until it reaches max rpm. Seriously, never seen another B10M rev that high. It's literally screaming before the gearbox shifts with a huge jerk. Once saw the Rev counter hit 2800RPM before shifting. Another fun fact about the bus: The interior smells like crayons somehow.
can be repaired, just like SBS2648U which also caught fire 3 years ago

Lucky never caught fire in the middle of the road... see how panick people fall down from the bus... that will be freaky.... -_-"
Or if its resting at BNDEP and then burns.... then it will be another AMDEP fire case again....
I took this bus frequently on 69. The condition of this bus is very bad. The engine was always revved very high. Was not surprised it caught fire.
Bus can be repaired but it depends on SBST...
Reminds me of TIB1105H.... Haha...
It is an old bus....air con no strong also.
Overhaul liao.
Somehow I was quite happy this bus won't be out on the roads for some time.
Nowadays single deck bus looks very spacious and tall...and air con also good. But dont like is you need to climb the steps in the middle in order to go to the rear.
And usually pple wont climb the steps, instead pple prefer to stand aside (opposite the exit door).

Thats a design flaw... cos the engine of the bus is all located at the back of the bus... sadly we have about 800 of them plying on the roads

It should be gradual and not have steps.

Too me, also flying forward when the bus driver stamp on the brake.
Luckily I quick got quick feet, if not...aiyo...pple sure laugh.
That's why the Citaro has the best design! Really looking forward to it! How the hell did MB design the engine block so small?
