You obviously cannot tell that the ladder was a joke.

You have a terrible sense of humour.
Oh well. Seriously tho', why weren't the London-style automatic blinds chosen? They're clear as a desto and have less electronics to mess up than an EDS. Basically the only additional bits are the motors, the blinds themselves and the code-reading equipment; much simpler than an EDS.
Of course, the amount of data on the blinds will be staggering.

too much data on the blinds. replacing the blinds when new services are introduced or old services withdrawn would not be cost effective
I was thinking of sectioned blinds ala Sydney, but then the control becomes too complex, unless it's just the number.

I think EDS is still the best choice.
Blinds are harder especially when there are new services to add in. Moreover, you needs tons of blinds just to show the route details of the route. Imagine you have to put in all the road names in just one bus...

Ya, true about new services...
But if you're using a blind, you wouldn't scroll through "Toh Guan Rd", "PIE", "AYE", "Eu Tong Sne St" "Sin Ming Ave" etc etc etc.
I favour retaining plastic destos on all buses that still have them and installing EDS for new buses.
Regarding the thread title, the answer is NO.

But if buses as old as the VO3x batch 3s are fitted progressively with EDS, I think most likely these newer models will get EDS in future. But I do really hope that SBST will use bigger Hanover EDS for the replacements instead.
But ultimately, it is still up to SBST's decision.
If they change, who wan take their plastic desto? Waste their $$$ on EDS only...

Take account in the EDS conversion of the VO3xes batch 3 and the procurement of new buses using only EDS, the trend of converting to EDS for the newer buses is inevitable.
It's a matter of time that SBST pharses out plastic destos, once the bus model older that the VO3xes batch 3 gets pharsed out in future.
TIBS already saw the future of using EDS, so now SBST should also change since EDS is cheaper to buy and more flexible to operational needs.

I take the plastic destos :P
I don't dispute that destos are going out and EDS is here to stay.
What I'm saying is that the plastic destos work fine and they can last the few years till even the VO3x's die. So, don't change them.
