SINGAPORE: Transport Minister Raymond Lim said on Monday that bus route changes will be introduced gradually, in response to public feedback.
In his written response to a parliament question from North West district mayor Teo Ho Pin, Mr Lim said majority of the residents whom the Land Transport Authority spoke to during its central bus planning consultations were not in favour of of major changes to existing bus routes which would be disruptive.
Mr Lim said this is also what they have learnt from the experience in other countries - that major 'big-bang' changes tend to be disruptive and confusing for commuters.
He stressed that changes to the system should be calibrated, incremental and progressive, guided by the principle that any change must benefit the majority of commuters.
Mr Lim said some route changes are expected by the end of the year and more will be progressively implemented later on.
Going forward, Mr Lim said LTA will periodically update advisers to the grassroots organisations on the major public transport improvements in their wards.

I think it'll change as the route tender - bundling system kicks off.
From Zaobao
Bishan - Toa Payoh, Sembawang, Bt Panjang
Eg: 410 to enter Shunfu Rd, skipping Upp Thomson Rd/ Lakeview Estate bus stop.
The BPJ 270 bus stop is expanded to accomodate 3 bendies. Ops wise seriously bus stop too long, peak hrs ppl at 1 corner gotta look out for e 3rd bus. Tat's why bendies seriously...
Must plan properly for Bukit Panjang. If not there will be more chaos to the existing MRT lines.
If anyone of them - 190,700,960 is withdrawn, commuters in Choa Chu Kang / Bukit Batok West / Bukit Panjang will push themselves up to Marsiling MRT Station by 187, 963, 966 to get to Orchard/Shenton Way... and Yishun, Sembawang, Ang Mo Kio, Toa Payoh residents can forget about taking the train to the City during peak hours.
5,000 posts and counting ..... =)
one thing for sure, tat splitting up of bus route has miscarriaged

LOL... although i still feel certain routes can be shortened, such as 30, 51, 61, 67....
Cos nobody, except joyriders, would actually complete the whole journey to get to work...

well in e 1st place Lim Hwee Hwa got her facts wrong.
1) Many of the long haul bus rts were in fact introduced when the MRT commenced, e same time to reduce buses on the congested CBD and not wat she claimed.
2) Many of these long haul rts's distance cannot be simply looked at its net distance. Say Sv 67, from CCK to Little India is at least 14km alone.
3) Where are e buses going to terminate? Carry on dreaming of those integrated public tpt hubs tat are cmi in reality. They want cos PAP can get to sell e land at record price, ppl build condo and get to easily collect property tax in future.
Aircon bus int? Ppl at NTU gotta wait for 179A at non aircon area Wendy's
4) Can our MRT cope. Should I say they've forgotten they're no longer far sighted in planning as they commented abt our founding fathers like late Dr Goh?
Disgrace.

Agree with you.
Integrated public transport hubs can work.... provided bus services come at frequencies of 1-3 minutes.... Asking people to wait 12-15 minutes with a hub and spoke system... is a joke!
Anyway, our MRT cant even cope the load now, whats more with a hub and spoke, you can expect stampede everyday on our trains.....
The Serangoon Hub is a total joke. 3 boarding/alighting berths and 17 parking lots...
Cant even handle the current Serangoon Int load and they still wanna claim that Serangoon is one of the hub in the NE area.

can never be 1 - 3 mins freq la. Wat I mean is spacing for bus sv expansion and enough for BC mealbreaks.

From Sengkang it's terrible le. Boon Lay just amplify it bigger.
I think e planners in HDB are thinking sooner or later no nid bus parking bay, BC drive on and on for 1 shift.
Sometimes many of these young scholars should be tasked to drive 1 shift of SBS bus for a month.. preferably at Boon Lay. and yes, A/ P shift for the mealbreak

And imagine having to walk for 10 minutes from the nearest bus stop to the mrt platform? And please make sure the nearest bus stops are at the MRT Stations doorstep (like those in E-W MRT Line).

EWL so long which station?
Maybe say Tampines...
ok lor, Sv 27, 168 stop right in front en-route Sengkang & Woodlands respectively. But later dun complain or cry tat e buses are stucked by e taxi or car park queue into Tampines 1 and so on.
Dun create more problems for yourself and everyone
410 to be ammended?
that explains the interesting thing i saw today. one amdep kub was doing on test, u-turn from jln todak to sin ming road, then left turn to shunfu road. 3 lta officers was taking picture and video when the ontest kub did the u-turn.

All the mrt stations from Tiong Bahru to Boon Lay have at least a pair of bus stop stops at their door steps. It makes bus-train transfer alot easier.

I am not sure if you understand my concerns. Anyway just to reiterate, for making bus/train transfer for MRT stations along E-W line, one probably need to walk not more than 5min from Platform (not control station) to the nearest pair of bus stop. However that's not true for some Circle Line Stations, example Marymount and Holland V, one probably need to walk for 10min from Platform to bus stop. The ease in making bus/train transfer will definitely encourage more to switch to public transport.

5 mins is very subjective.
Like I've said I can only post which stations are the planned x-fer pts, but the location of the bus stops cna only be at places where its safe.
Will there be more bus terminals under the hub and spoke system? And for buses that are waiting at bus stops (especially short working trips buses), please switch off the engine while waiting, the engine sound can be loud and annoying especially during early morning.

Isn't it been reducing the number of bus terminals by merging them into bigger bus intrerchanges?
No doubt some additional terminals might have to be built all thks to e mess of e smaller hub and spokes interchanges.

At this juncture, we had little knowledge on how the hub and spoke system works. I would hope that they implement more shortworking trips rather than removing some trunk services. Example if Commonwealth Station is identified as hub to PSA Bldg, does it mean SBST100 should start from Commonwealth instead.
I hope not.

Well SWTs can only be implemented if that leg has much much higher loading than other stretches.
There's no terminal available to be built at C'wealth. Furthermore, hubs n spokes dun mean all buses becomes short haul feedering svs. Buses will still have to be kept in spite of e MRT.
For example.
Sv 63
The highest loading leg is Eunos - Ubi - Macpherson Est - Aljunied MRT. Even though the leg from Aljunied MRT - Chinatown is the next highest in loading, I believe it's in the ratio of 2: 1, hence there's Sv 63A to ply the highest leg.
Sv 124
There's 2 distinct high demand pt: St Michaels - Orchard & Chinatown - Telok Blangah. But as the loading is almost similiar, there's no way a SWT can be implemented.
In your opinion, when Circle Line NUH station started, will it be a HUB to NUS? And what will happen to SBST 95 and 96 and SBST91 (to Science Park 1)?
Anyway it can be anyone guess.

Circle Line is very limited, it does not really serves NUS less Medical & Computing. Furthermore w/ only 3 carriage n 6 mins peak freq, can it cope w/ ppl heading to Pasir Panjang?
Science Pk I will still need a bus to e inside
If I am not in favor in joining the grassroot, and yet I would like to contribute in betterment to the public transport system in my estate, what other avenues I can participate?
Where do LTA obtain the feedback? Should I feed back to LTA or SBST or SMRT or PTC in regards to the public transport system in my estate?
And is the plan to merge the BV and GM terminals into an interchange and have it relocate next to BV MRT Station (E-W) has been shelved or aborted? I believe many bus services will be withdrawn from Holland Drive if the merging and relocation indeed take place.
