F1 Road Diversion 2010

Since today is the first day of road diversion,
Posting based on my observation and it would be a long post. Perhaps those I have mentioned would be the same scenario for the past 2 years.Morning wise (around 8am) Traffic was heavy along Upp Pickering St all the way to Church St. For those vehicles turning from South Bridge Rd, traffic started to slow down after Elgin Bridge. Buses was generally late by around 15-20 mins. But heard it was even worse after that.
Evening wise,
Spotted many people waiting for the bus at Robinson Road bus stop.
I took Sv 107 at around 6:15pm at Cecil Street Bus Stop. Traffic started to be heavy at Boon Tat Street. It continued along Cross St, Eu Tong Sen St, Hill Street till Middle Road. I took the bus around 1 hour to travel from Cecil St to Beach Rd. Passengers started to build from Beach Rd onwards.
The most epic bus stop would be Lavender MRT bus stop, it was packed like sardine. Especially when the bus reached the bus, people started to crowd over and some boarded from the exit door. Made until the bus to be packed to the door. Most of them are people living in Geylang Bahru. Before that, heard there were 2 Service 61 rigid and one Service 175 passed by, but it is unable to fetch finished the crowd.
For 107, commuters have waited around 40+ mins before the bus I was in, arrived at the bus stop.
Heard other services were badly affected like Service 197 and 145 (those from Chinatown) etc.
Reached back HG, timing was around 8pm.Observation, please correct me if I am wrong,
Notice Service 106 (twds BBT) it will take a loop at Marina South before heading back to Cecil Street unlike Service 133Felt that some services could use ECP instead (e.g. for those buses plying along Beach Rd) Service 57, 100, 107 (Exit via Ophir Road and back to original route)
Ticket Inspector can be stationed at Lavender MRT station bus stop to control the crowd during evening peak. -

but in some sense, those ppl could have gone to Kallang and take 853 right

Don't think they started the diversion today. Yesterday I already notice diversion already exist.

wat abt Sv 530 today? now 195 heads to Shenton Way

SO many complains from 57 tdy and BC was not happy abt it with the schledule.. But I think 57 buses bunch up otw to BSH

usually, the 1st day or 2 will experience some inconveniences as some motorists might not know about the road closures..
the situation should get better within the next few days..

SMB117H was spotted as sv106A in the morning, it turned right from Cross St to Cecil Street.
Yes sv106 will loop at Marina Bay area before returning to Cross St.
I walked to Fullerton Bus stop in the evening to tell commuters about the bus stop closure, seems SGreans do not like to read the posters...
But this year, most of the posters are at eye level compared to last year where they were missing from bus stops.
But middle rd bus stop[opp bylands building] poster for sv56 was missing.
this yr, sv36 instead of bypassing Suntec Area now stop at Temasek Boulevard[os Tower 3]
Noticed sv70 stopped at Temp bus stop[Nicoll highway after Java rd] to pick passengers.
a lot of svcs downtrip... SBS7357B down trip from Bedok Int, started at Marine Parade Rd[Parkway Parade bus stop]
This year's solution for buses to skip Robinson Rd and use Shenton Way is better but situation can improve especially the traffic junction timing for traffic to turn left from Cecil St to Cross St. -

You are right,
Yesterday,traffic goin twds Mountbatten at Esplanade Dr have to squeeze to the city bound carriage as contractors were fixing up the Connaught Dr sitting area.

The temp bus stop is there as service 14, 16 and 70M join back to Nicoll Highway from Java Rd, due to there is no right turn from Beach Rd (towards Rochor Rd) to Middle Rd (towards Nicoll Highway) for service 14 and 16.Others:
Express 502 will make a loop at Marina South (Marina Blvd and Central Blvd) before returning to AYE via Keppel Rd.
Express 518 will enter ECP immediately after Beach Rd and Ophir Rd, will not ply to Marina South.
Service 97, after Marina Blvd, will turn into Central Blvd and loop back to Jurong East.
Service 133M will make a U turn after Marina Bay Sands and back to Shenton Way terminal.

the people in charge screw up on the f1 gp road closure
the public (meaning me) was not made aware of it
it is a freaking inconvenience for the public (meaning me) to get around the marina bay area + i work in marina bay sands
usual bus ride from dhoby goat to MBS (svc106) increase from 15 mins to 45 mins due to reroute through heavy traffic area + causing even worse traffic jams
due to svc106 reroute, instead of stopping in front of MBS, now svc106 stopping 15 minutes walk away from MBS
go singapore government, for some international recognition, spend so much of tax payer's money (meaning my money) on f1 gp + cause the public (meaning me) so much inconvenience.

Every year people on the ground screw up the F1 road closure, this morning AETOS police stop me ask me where i going[when i was at padang near the WW1 memorial], i told him i was walking to my office, he told me ALL ROADS ARE CLOSED, YOU CANT GO ANYWHERE.
I was puzzled because the underpass is still open till 2359hrs tonite.
His colleague corrected him and asked me to proceed on...
Yesterday, i nearly did not pick up my kid ontime due to bus delays and disruptions
So how, just bear and wait for it to end... -
The road closure and diversion map and information was released last week IIRC. If you bothered to read newspaper properly or read your corporate email(if you are working there), you would have known of the road closures and diversion.

There is a white man stationed at the bus stop.
He will board the bus and inform passengers that this is the only stop that will serve the Marina Suntec area.

it's much better alrdy.
there was not supposed to be 106A or 133M to serve MBS at all if anyone bothered to remember the scheme used for YOG.
Dun forget these are the very first few bus sv diversion to affect MBS.

Anyway, a deviation from previous years...
Esplanade Dr to Shenton Way was open to traffic on Saturday morning till 930am...
