  SMRT Buses Introduce Express 868

  Starting from 28 September 2010, Express 868 will be operating 2 trips a day from Bukit Batok West Ave 5 to Temasek Ave.

  1st Trip is 7:30am
  2nd Trip is 7:45am

  Operate on Weekdays only (Excluding Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays)

  2 Trips per day only.

  hope press release will be out soon. sounds like a premium bus though. to run express without being parallel to existing rail lines, i wonder under which scheme does this fall into...

  This route will be definitely more successfully than Sv 128, which run parallel to MRT line.

  Not really. No similarities whatsoever.

  The way I see it, Express 868 is actually a smart move by SMRT to take on the competition posed by Ric Tat's successful Premium 582 (Bukit Batok West to Shenton Way).

  P582 charges $4, E868 charges almost half. P582 winds around in Bukit Batok East and Jurong East and stops along AYE, E868 takes on BBT West Ave 6 not served by P582 and tries to take on a slightly faster route and goes non-stop along AYE.

  Chances are E868 might steal almost all of P582's pax in BBT West heading towards Shenton Way. Pay less for roughly the same amount of travel time, if not less.

  LTA finally figured out that routes that parallel exactly to the MRT won't work out, need to go into housing estates...

  868 will be max $2.33 I think. So pay about $0.40 more.

  must take ruler to measure? :)  it is actually referring to the route from Bukit Batok to City area as Mrt also go from Bukit Batok to City area.. need not necessary to duplicate entirely to the MRT line.

  anyway, commuters interview in Wan Bao complain that the travelling time (60 mins) is long. They expect it to be around 40-45 mins which is more reasonable.
