Upgrading of Bedok Bus Interchange

  Hear on 1830hrs news on plans for new Bedok Interchange, inclusive of a 2 storey high shopping mall, with 500 residential, ready in 2015. Finally it's time for Bedok, one of the oldest bus interchange in Singapore.

  A state land parcel at New Upper Changi Road and Bedok North Drive has been awarded to Brilliance Residential Ltd. and Brilliance Trustee Ltd. after it offered the highest bid in a public tender that closed on September 1.
  
  The two companies, which are wholly-owned subsidiaries of CapitaLand Ltd., offered a joint bid of $788.9 million for the 99-year leasehold site.
  
  The site has a total land area of 24,902.2 sq m and a maximum gross floor area of 87,157.7 sq m, with a plot ratio of 3.5. It is proposed for mixed commercial and residential development integrated with a bus interchange.

  hopefully they don't make a mess out of the bus interchange like at Boon Lay and upcoming Serangoon where the parking lots are grossly insufficient...

  They will do this, definitely. They already say on top of it would be condominium... and about 100 new shops leading from MRT station to bus interchange.
  
  So probably you might not even get to see the bus bay from the bus interchange.... Just a few small holes to get onto the bus.

  Bus interchange is where you board buses.

  Like that service 40 doesn't even need to enter interchange. BC just need to change at the bus stop outside interchange, then proceed to drive further up to any junction where can U turn back to MacPherson.

  It's like service 36 at T2.

  It's about time.

  Bedok is the largest town in Singapore, according to

  But it is lacking in terms of shopping malls compared to other places like Tampines, Boonlay...etc.

  some facts from the tender documents:
  temp interchange -around 18515 m2
  new interchange - around 24902 m2
  number of bus services- estimated 29
  56 lots for standard 12m bus and 2 lots for 18m bus for both temp and new interchange
  10 sawtooth boarding berths and 5 alighting berth for both temp and new interchange

  all information are subject to change... all are sawtooth berths.. so if Sv7/30/197 each take up 4 slots.. haha
