I'm a bit confused over bus number RWS 8. In RWS website, it states we need to pay $2 but last monday when I took the bus from RWS to vivocity, the driver told me it's free! Is RWS 8 free?

No, you pay only when u take the svc from HBFRWS ($2 for return trip)
If somehow u got in via other modes of transport, its free. Same goes for Sentosa Express- you get in via free shuttle bus, you can take the train back to HBF for free

I'm disappointed with the decision. If providing free transport to RWS = encouraging citizens to gamble, then govt should close all 4D shops in residential areas
I think RWS scared ganna marked by gahment that's why they have no choice but to withdraw the free shuttle bus...
all thanks to some whistle blower...

I hope the government doesn't force them to cancel the service.
I know the Chinatown CBD2 service after 5.30 to end of service at 7.30 takes up a lot of office workers, who then connect RWS to the other shuttles(myself included, frequent user of the last RWS-bound shuttle from Buddha Tooth Relic Temple ).
Seriously, as I tell my other colleagues, I'd rather go through the inconvenience of having to detour through RWS, but pay next to nothing and get a "GUARANTEED" reclining seat in a coach for the RWS to Tampines/Bedok leg. Oh and not forgetting to mention, peak hour train service from Tanjong Pagar to East/West is hell from 5.30p.m to 8p.m. Why pay for a service when you have to suffer a bit more when you can have a less strenous alternative?

e reason was partly coz e MPs opposed e fwee bus, which was seen as encouraging gambling.

Directive to appear today by MCYS & CRA over free shuttle buses.
looks like bef e brake was jammed, plans was to add more routes like to Marine Parade...
All Shuttle Svs terminated... Incl CBD
Best way is to vote PAP out in the next election.
I believe that the Singapore Government should give a more advance notice for their stopping on the heartland RWS shuttles.
Not like, investigating on wednesday, issue directives to stop immediately on Friday afternoon with immediate effect. The Governing body should consider allowing 1 to 3 days in advance notice of the termination of the shuttles from the heartlands.

to think of it
lesser overheads = higher gambling tax collectable for them also
Thank you Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports for stepping in with the Casino Regulatory Authority to force the two IRs to withdraw their shuttle services.
Thank you very much!
Election is coming, and you are doing this to piss off more Singaporeans. Good luck to you PAP.
Those who want to gamble will still gamble de...
next ban Singapore Pools from NTUC, 7-11?
forsee pte bus ops and PRC bus dist will kena hardest hit.
The Government seemed to have presumed that everyone who took the free shuttles are being enticed to go to Resorts World Sentosa to gamble....
i am very disappointed with the move.
i've seen families boarding the shuttle buses with the drivers willingly allowing the storage area to be filled up with strollers.
this is especially crucial for families where entry to sentosa for a party of 4 would be $12. exclude grandparents tagging along.
forcing them to take the cab or even to go public say from tampines, EWL to Outram Park, walk to NEL, alight, take the monorail is troublesome.
with a full family, it'll definitely take approx 1hr 15mins minimum. besides, in our forever-packed-anytime-of-the-day trains, how to go out as a family happily? you can't force them to get a car right? are we not encouraging public transport and reducing carbon footprint?
worried about the elderly going casino? their monies are locked up in CPF already by the govt too. fret not, they just go sentosa to see see look look new places... they are afterall very free people.
time to rethink where i wanna set up a family now. don't want my life to be meddled so much.
