Green buses to hit roads Aug
GREEN buses with less or zero emissions will be hitting the roads in August as part of a year-long trial.
One bus will ferry Youth Olympic Games participants around their accommodation in the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) campus.
The hydrogen-electric hybrid bus, developed by the Nanyang Technological University and China's Tsinghua University, has no harmful emissions. Instead, water is produced and released through its exhaust pipe.
Also running on SBS Transit's service 185 route will be two hybrid buses that run on electricity and diesel.
The use of electricity results in fuel savings of up to 30 per cent.
Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Teo Ser Luck, who was the guest of honour at the launch of the buses on Tuesday, said: 'If this technology is found to be suitable for our local context, we can expect to see even more such green buses running on our roads in the near future.'

What.
They had better have installed AdBlue pumps at SLBP. Unless they want these buses to be like 8030L, that is.

dont those 2 buses run on electric? What does it mean by electric diesel?
Am I right to say euro IV and above buses does not have exhausts? Like our KUBs? Or is it the SCR/EGR replaced the exhaust? And because of that LTA set the criteria of min euro IV?
diesel-electric. the electrical motor is supposed to help by storing energy and assisting in certain stages of propulsion, thereby reducing the diesel requirements.
every bus has an exhaust of some form, whether it is liquid or gaseous. our KUB's have exhaust!
SCR and EGR is another thing, each is a method to help reduce the emission of harmful pollutants.

oh, so our KUBs exhaust in liquid form, so we cant see the exhaust pipe?
our kUB's have exhasut pipe, and gas comes out of it as per other diesel-powered buses (:

weitong, i did a check of the engine's specs again based on the model number, it should be Euro IV. apologies for the mistake.
