got a feeling there's distance discrepency...
to WDL Ctr from WDL CIQ is shorter than to Woodlands Rd. how can it be
Newspaper reports yesterday correctly identified a lot of bus services have overcharged us! SV170 included

Cw1 does not even stop at Kotoraya as i just found out.
Once they reach JB CIQ they make a u-turn and start a new trip at JB CIQ (CW2 oso).
They will go Larkin only for rests.
instead they introduce a sv called CWL to link Larkin and JB CIQ only.

Dun have Kota Raya huh...
Wa, like tis might as well take SJE if I need to go to Larkin. Rewait for 1 bus, pay $2.40 cannot get a seat.
Market spoiled, last time old CIQ CW1/ CW2 go Larkin. Now jam everything cut short. Even make illegal u-turn at Kranji.
So profitable. Road tax cheap, diesel subsidised.
i will continue to take cw2 for their freq
in fact to kotayara u just need to walk..
in fact there's little demand for ppl going Larkin.
more for those going JB Bandar.

but you'll get stucked at CIQ waiting for bus to Larkin.
Seriously, whether there's high demand or not, when it was applied to be Larkin <> Queen St back then, it has to stay unless, unless it's openly announced CW2 is officially shortened to CIQ and reduction of fares.
In any case I think it's killing themselves, there's Senai Express but w/o CW1 linkage.
I think tis bus - MRT x-fer is e most screwed for SMRT, the fare reduction would affect SMRT, SBS would get either increase or marginal reduction in fare collection to and fro.
Example AMK > KRJ > 170X/ JB CIQ.
To and fro SBS faces 1c reduction while SMRT faces a 13c fare reduction.

cos of connecivity offering la. Senai cmi in international routes de, no hinterland and now face budget airline flight from Changi.
But in any case it was publicised of seamless CW1 to Senai Express linkage.

this is the reply i got from LTA. There is no problem in transferring between 170 and 170X at the checkpoint.
DISTANCE FARE FOR SV170/170X
FEEDBACK NUMBER:20100811-0031
We refer to your email dated 11 August 2010.
You may wish to know that service 170X and 170 are considered the same service. Hence, transfer between these two services is not valid according to the transfer rules and the Fare Calculator is unable to allow calculation of fares for transfer between these 2 services.
However, at two special stops, at Woodlands Checkpoint and Johor Bahru check point, transfer between any of Service 170, 170X or 160 are allowed albeit not the normal transfer rules. At these two points, SBS Transit Ltd has allowed transfer between these services as if the passenger did not alight from the bus. Unfortunately, due to technical limitation, the fare calculator is not able to effectively compute the same for transfer between service 170 and 170X.

isn't strange or funny...
Checkpoint mode gotta be done by SBS yet the system i.e. online calculator all done by LTA...
The reply I got (way nong ago) did not even mention abt CIQ issue.
Finally saw tat CWL at Kranji ytd. Desto: JB CIQ <> Larkin.
In any case, realised those who take bus/ 170 - MRT - bus to their workplace at Sembawang, Admiralty, Bt Batok, Jurong East (Toh Guan 183, IBP 99) are more affected than taking CW1.
The diff works out to be 5c to 22c to and fro. The nearer station is to Kranji, the bigger than impact.
I've printed a list for CW1 & 160/ 170X from JB CIQ.
Kota Raya dun need to tabulate because basis pts Yew Tee, Admiralty is not much affected alrdy.
Those Malaysians who thinks by taking CW1 is cheaper is terribly wrong unless they're heading to North Link or Bt Batok St 23 or Toh Guan/ IBP.
1 classic example: JB CIQ > Kranji > Admiralty > Woodlands Link.
170: $1.09 + 24c + 12c = $1.45.
CW1: $0.43 + 91c + 30c = $1.64.
Up to Admiralty MRT leg is 1c diff, but see wat happens aft x-fer to 964...
dunno how to plot e fare comparison onto here leh...
does CW1 now plies Kota Raya II again?
I'll update the list once I've free time
But from JB CIQ can confirm there's no changes to some station destination (170 > MRT only) i.e. Boon Lay.
If there's adjustment in the next phase due to mid term link, expect significant drop in fares for mid x-fer culmualtive distances.
Any distance update on 160, 170, 170X & 950 is impossible right now.
Though the mid term link is in ops now, there's some other road diversion.
