Crane knocks into pedestrian bridge at Bukit Timah Road

SINGAPORE :
A crane on Saturday knocked into a pedestrian bridge at Bukit Timah
Road, just before the turn into Sixth Avenue.
The damaged bridge
has been closed to all pedestrians.
Engineers from the Land
Transport Authority (LTA) have evaluated the situation and recommended
that a portion of the affected bridge be removed for safety reasons.
LTA's
Chief Transportation Engineer, Dr Chin Kian Keong, said that to ensure
the safety of road users, the entire stretch of Bukit Timah Road, from
Fourth to Sixth Avenue, has been closed to facilitate rectification
works.
As a result, there were traffic jams.
The stretch
of road will reopen to motorists once the works are completed.
The
40-year-old driver of the crane is now helping police with their
investigations.
A pedestrian was slightly injured in the
accident. - CNA/ms

not really, just a couple of years back, a trailer carrying an aircraft body from Seletar Airport to the Changi Airport could not pass through a particular flyover (one of the Sengkang bridges). I think the aircraft sceapped against the bridge.
Earlier this year, a truck operator forgot to lower his mible crane, and it scrapped against the bridge of Marina Square, causing debris to fall.
but this one look really jialat
hahah this already looks-like-going-to-fall-to-bits bridge really looks even worse after this knock
oohhh... wonder when the stretch will reopen.. can take 961 ply PIE...

Think she was walking on the bridge and suddenly felt an "earthquake".
Haiz. Another stupid driver forgotten to keep the crane, anyway I saw TIB596E on 77 comming out of PIE towards steven road.

Its one of the older bridge designs, might be a lower height, those bridges were slated for removal long ago but no action taken, the last time one the old bridges were removed along the same bukit timah road was in 2001.
upper bukit timah road near bt panjang also got one old overhead bridge...

That one the stairs were refurbished alr. Same design as this bridge tho. Last year also got one 4.5m barrier near the Bukit Timah/Hillview KTM bridge kena knocked down by a truck crane also. 67, 75, 170,184, 961 diverted to Hume Avenue. First time take a bendy bus via Hume avenue.
So that means, from 10.30am till around 7pm dont have SBST service(except 52) serving NP towards clementi?
The company will have to pay for the fine!
