Automatic transmission...
nope. he have a gear stick and a clutch. how can this means auto?
all singapore public buses whether SMRT or SBS Transit (excluding private buses & SMRT minibuses) are using automatic transmission.. so i think you took a private bus

LOL. Such cases are semi auto already......

only tat one is to refrain from stepping on accerlerator when changing gear.

its possible... by floating gears...
takes lots of pratice without screwing up the gearbox...

define floating gears?

Its a way to shift gears without using the clutch by shifting gears based on the engine's rpm.
Its not something easily explained, but basically the concept is that when yr vehicle is moving on the road, the transmission is turning at a certain rpm based on the vehicle speed. the engine and gears would then have to match to this rpm when changing gears.
Heres a pretty good vid on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLw0hAtOik4
Google also have good info on it.
registration number please.
I also saw before 1 of the suntec shuttle bus where the driver put the gear stick into the next gear before actually changing gear with the clutch some time later. eg he shifted his gear stick to 3rd gear when he's still travelling in 2nd gear and then when he decide to upshift he juz step on the clutch. Same goes for downshifting.

I am not expert on this...could it be simply...old bus...well-used gearbox...easier to push the gears in...
