From some pix, 3 B9s[LJS ad,CIMB ad] are stuck at IOn junction, i x Scania[iproperty.com] is stuck around noon...
LJS B9TL and Sony Cybershot B9TL that were featured in the pics and vids of the flooding are from Sv 7. Both were stuck side by side. Jam caused severe delay for all Orchard Svcs and Svcs plying thru PIE. Flooding was also witnessed at Newton Circus and at Whitley Road. SBS8900B brokedown after it went passed CNIS, which was also affected by the flood.
I was onboard an SJE bus from CIQ to Queen Street. Sv 170 affected badly. Journey time: 10:15 - 11:45 (1 hour delay) (Average trip for an SJE bus from CIQ to Queen Street is 30 mins)
Jam Hotspots:
BKE (aft Dairy Farm towards PIE)
PIE (between Jalan Anak Bukit and Stevens)
Whitley Road (Heading into City)
Rochor Road (Heading out of city)

Luckily none of the buses are damaged in the flood. Otherwise SBST will have to sacrifice money and opportunity cost of operations for repairs and covering up inconvenince.
Prime area and shopping belt can even be flooded so easily, even after a major revamp. Wonder what PUB is doing.
the flood this time round is due to blockage by garbages like leaf litters that caused the drainage flows unsmoothly during the heavy rain.

but the cars which are parked at the basement of shopping malls around orchard station area cannot be escaped from this most significant flood.

Heard on CH8 news @ 10 that Bt Timah was badly hit last year Nov, therefore PUB had solved the problem by installing sensor at drain so when reach a certain point, the barrage will open. Wonder where's the sensor and barrage though.
Cheers.

Bt Timah's prob is quite simple. Back in the 1980s, they created a diversion canal (e one outside Jln Rajah HDB blocks & beside PIE), amended the drains near Newton not to directly face the sea opening.
Finally they widenened the stretch between Sixth Ave & Newton. But in recent years the flood is caused by e bottleneck near Maple Ave and heavy flow from Upp Bt Timah tat side
