There is already blue, purple and orange. Black is brand-new EZ-Link card readers, to replace the producting blue, purple and orange. Dates include:

SBS has the Purple/Orange one while some SMRT buses uses a grey one for the 2004 - 2010 units ... ...
So are all the SMRT and SBST Buses going to change the whole Card Readers? I mean ALL as in double decker and single decker which means total let's say 5000buses? They can change all before July meh? So many buses leh..

they've only changed the covers. black is for SeP. but it does not change the fact that old ez-link card readers have gone out of production.

they will do it progressively, then roll over to the new SeP system where equipments are compatible with each other, including fare collection, ridership statistics and QoS monitoring capabilities, and allowing interfacing with the SeP payments system.
