"Both leaders also announced that the Joint Ministerial Committee (JMC) on Iskandar Malaysia, tasked to increase the connectivity between the two countries, had agreed on several moves.
Among these, the cross-border scheduled bus services will be doubled with the introduction of eight new additional routes (four from each side) between Pasar Bakti and Larkin in Johor and the two integrated resorts, Boon Lay, Yishun, Newton and Changi Airport in Singapore"
Next thing AirAsia or MMC will kpkb tat it'll kill Senai Airport further.

Make ppl indebt to distance fare, farecard system, double decker investment, ppl come in everything cheaper.
about time. all along i wondered why diplomatic stupidity funnelled everyone to 170 and 160 even if they live halfway across singapore.

to think of it further, tat means we need more buses to go around.
we dun have enough buses for ourselves, go for cross border?
From Zaobao
MOT expects two of the four services to start running from Q3 2010. Private operators are invited to submit their tender.
TNP reports abt the expected benefit. It cited sv 170's packedness esp on Fridays as you can forget abt boarding at at Upp Bt Timah as the bus is always packed.
Actually Kranji is kinda lawless on PH eve or Fridays.
SMRT says it has no intention of intro more cross border svs as it alrdy has 950, while SBS says it's looking into e proposal to enhance its cross border svs.
Pasar Bakri is somemore 6km up along Federal Rt 3 (Terbau Highway).
also they proposed new bus services linking Woodlands KTM to a "nearby" MRT station
btw.. whats there at pasar bakri?
It's Pasar Bakti. And it's also more popularly known to us as Kotaraya II Terminal.

buses are things. got money can buy. the option of new routes depends on whether malaysia has a sane prime minister at the point in time.
to me, buses can be easily bought, but the opportunities brought about by new routes far outweigh deployment issues.

I was thinking biz for 170.
Travellers from CBD take to Woodlands Ctr to x-fer to KTM.
I mean u sure w/ 7 mins MRT off peak freq, can take in all these travellers big baggages?

then I can tell u it's not something tat can buy suddenly overnight, not to say the additional labour required.
Lots of things needs planning.
Seems like only 170 blue plate had standee passengers today.
