zaobao today reported that there were 8 bus accidents in 6 weeks, a lot of them being high profile ones and causing 50 injuries altogether.
they didn't talk about this, but does anyone have any idea about the demographics of drivers? methinks some may be caused by foreign drivers who're used to driving on the other side of the road?
RTAs can be occur at anytime & anywhere, nobody can predict..
it could be caused due to several reasons..
Last accident IIRC was an SMRT OC, but I doubt it was driven by PRC as it's a relatively new bus and I remember I read in here somewhere before that they usually wun deploy new drivers on new buses. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Cheers.

i've seen PRCs driving OCs & KUBs.... & rode on them too. :)
sometimes is the way they drive.
Like say filter to right lane to turn. Some will still want to 'race' with cars on e right lane, thinking can be faster than them.
But buses speed limit is 60, how fast?
Ever once took 966 at BKE after climbing e sloppy slip road. The driver floor acclerator to 80kph to overtake. He even overtook some cars on e right lane.

definitely has nothing to do with demographics... in some cases, there's only so much the drivers can do to prevent. when things just come hitting at your vehicle, even defensive driving can't do much.

Nobody die in the accidents. sian
ever saw once. think of it, it's funny and scary.
Sv 143 ADD turning left at Somerset/ Grange junction to Ngee Ann, formed up on middle lane. Then did left turn, a horn suddenly was blasted.
Turned my head.. 1st thing bo langa... Then it's because the young lady driver got shocked the ADD 'cut' into her lane.
Many new drivers dun even realise buses need more space to turn. By squeezing, u'll get shocked for no reason and side swipe accidents occur. Worst standing pax esp would be 1st to get injured.
car drivers think need to go for defensive driving too for e younger gen.. chiong, chiong, chiong never look out for heavy vehicles.

yup.. you can be a safe driver/rider. but when you're on the same road with one negligent motorist (i dare include negligent pedestrian also), accidents happen.

7499's case is accident waiting to occur. Bt Timah/ Dunearn is becoming tree hazard zone. To think of it, even PIE/ Whitley Rd towards Changi bef CJC also.

its usually the lady drivers that cause undue panic to other motorists.

Choose material which is lesser impact to image: Ductile material but has high mechanical strength as more brittle (less ductile) = easily crashed.

Guided Bus System.
No interference from other traffic, dedicated enclosed lane for buses only, cheap and easy to maintain, flexibility to switch to normal roads, faster and more punctual bus rides.
But LTA just don't see the benefits of building one to improve the public bus system. Either they are stubborn, dumb, or ignorant.

LTA still have to listen to URA cos they are ones who decides the land use here.
