no doubt extension, but for how long?
Are they going to break the TIB 447C-466Y batch to atleast 25 years? that's absurd though, not even the mercz cacs get to live that long though
Actually to think about it, most of e new city bus chassis are low floor in design.
It's unless they, manufacturers & LTA cham siong on looking at higher floor buses.
Well, if someone said Volgren buses will be the next perm 950 batch, then most likely are the hinos and Mercs.
I'm guessing UMW Lances. After all they are common in Malaysia too.
Of course, the best case scenario is for LTA to waive the WAB rule for cross-border service and allow them to buy a dedicated fleet. Number of steps wise probably no less than what Causeway Link buses offer. (Or SMRT's Volgrens)

If 447C-466Y batch gets extended till 2020, i'd say records are already broken though for SMRT.
But not possible though, max till the max can only go until 2015, that's when all the mercz OAC/CAC batch are gone.
They won't use WAB or new buses for that matter. They (SMRT) are scared that the buses (say, OC500LE) might get damaged by buggers who have nothin' better 2 do. 1 time, I saw a 160 Mkiii with wat looks like vandalized seats.

You have a point there, new buses going there will be vandalized, or rather look vandalized, But how long can you keep it going? for the next 20 years?
Worse case scenario is they put Citaro on 950. o_0
at the worst they send bendys out to do cross border services :D
Box bendies?

Lances? Very few of them only.......

Enough. They need to register only about 20 buses actually.
Fleet size of 950 is less than 15 to begin with. Full day bus shifts only 9.
Actually SBST will face this problem earlier than SMRT, given that they had not purchased any major SD buses after DM3500s in 1997 until the KUBs in 2006.
(And don't tell me that CNGs can operate across the causeway)

Take all those PA registered buses? aft all im sure SMRT will use OCs for charted services eventually...

Are you saying that such a thing won't happen right here in Singapore? Even if there are vandalism on the cross-border buses, more than likely that the locals are the culprits.

The O405s..... Both from SBST and SMRT , got heavily vandalised 1 time.... SBST spend SGD $1,000,000 just to replace seat covers , get rid of vandalised seats .

Wait... Just how many Mark IIIs are deployed on 160 and 170? If it is let's say 50, will there be enough DM3500s?

That is a point (4 many Singaporeans are vandalizers), and +, who would want to dirty their new things?
dont think bendies will be used, looking at the road conditions, wait got suaku ppl never see before bendy bus, go damage the bendy part or vandlise the bendies

no.... SBST wont face problem earlier than SMRT. there is 50 DM3500 with deregistration date of 25 dec 2017... let say with 2 years extension, can at least last till 2019 christmas.... still got 9 more years.. by the time, the KUB will be at least 12 years old, time to send it to JB roads already...

why worry so much? they can just use the Hino/Merc Volgren. both are the same design... can use up to at least 2018 with lifespan extension.... by that time, OC is around 10 years already... old enough to let it go to JB..
