Incls Ret LTG Winston Choo's interview.
the Mabok Tongue could be lying you know?
heck.. that's his forte isn't it?
said the only cabinet minister to have lost an election (though losing elections are normal in a democracy, in singapore, when you're a PAP candidate, well...)
thought there was an article of him driving SBS bus back then?

so what?
the publicity stunt was him trying to "understand the hardships" of the common man..
if he was sincere, he'd take a $2,000 paycheque for a couple of months, live in a HDB flat with his family and go to work each day (his family included) in real public transport like the buses and trains without all his goddamned security goons shadowing him...

HDB flats are "affordable" because a $500,000 HDB flat is just only 3 months of his $2 million dollar annual salary.
And he probably wonders why some people need 30 years to pay off a HDB mortgage loan.

I was just wondering, if you are 40 years old, will they still allow you to have a 20-30 year mortgage?
After all, there is a high likelyhood of you retiring at say 55 which means you do not have any more income to service the 20-30 year mortgage loan the moment you stop working at 55.
So how?

Say back in 1980s, 1 flat was abt $65,000
25 yrs meant abt $220 per month excl interest.
Dun forget then wages were lower and you've to feed a family and so on.

You think everybody is a poly or university graduate making $5,000 a month?

see if you can sieve out more interesting stuffs about him from 1979 to 1990.

Now old 3 room flats for resale can be going for $250,000.
If people cannot imagine the magnitude of this increase, look at $250,000 as a QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS.
