Anyone can explain to me how does the new coming pay-by-distance thingy work ?
although in poster they stated some bus rides examples but i still dont understand how they calculate our fares.
and i see like with this new thingy we like paying more? as in if we travel very long distances?
and what it mean by saying " With Distance Fares, fares are computed on a journey basis, without a boarding charge being imposed for every transfer trip that makes up your journey. "
what's the boarding charge refering to?
no one knows? lol.
Currently, every trip you make, the fare comes with boarding charge and distance component. when you make a transfer, a nominal amount (transfer rebate) is returned to you as an offset against incurring boarding charge.
The new fare system will base your fare totally on the aggregate distance travelled regardless of the method of travel. Hence, you can change buses like as if you have a bus pass and not incur more as long as you're travelling through the same route (and hence the same distance).
All trips requiring only EWL, NSL, BPLRT, SKLRT, PGLRT and basic bus services (trunk, feeder, Townlink and Jurong Industrial Services) will only need to pay the standard distance-based fare.
A premium of up to 25¢ for adult card users will be incurred on top of the distance fare for any part of the journey that requires NEL and CCL.
A premium of 60¢ will be payable for express/FFw services on top of basic distance-based fare.
You may post your questions here at http://buses.sgforums.com/forums/1279/topics/397082?page=5 and we will help you to estimate the fare you have to pay under the new fare regime.
meaning your total travel distance is travelled by pt A to pt B be it bus - MRT - bus, bus - bus or MRT - bus (MRT - bus - MRT and taking of same service within 5 transfers & 2 hrs would not be considered).
Say I take Sv 506 from Bt Batok Ctrl and transfer to Sv 8/ 26/ 31/ 90/ 142 at Lor 6 Toa Payoh to Jln Toa Payoh/ St Andrews Village.
Current: 18 express fare stages + 2 fare stages => $1.85 + $0.69 - $0.50 rebate = $2.04.
New: Approx 14.4km + approx 1.6km = 16km Express fare => $2.09 or $2.13. This is subject to the new 'fare stage' where ez-link would display km marking instead.

yup.
for 16km including 1 express ride = 16.0km for the distance charge + 60¢ for express ride
so it'll be $1.49 + $0.60 = $2.09.
