The B10TLs are usually uniformly loud across all units, including the ZF ones.As for the B9TLs, even the new ones produce too much noise for comfort.....some of the 88 fleet roars too much. In fact, my family has even managed to figure out which are the ones that warrant the comment: Oh here comes our fave bus (with sarcasm of cos).
The VSOs never had so much impact on our lives. It simply integrated pretty fine when it arrived.....but not the B9TLs.
The B9TL is so bloody loud we could hear it from 2 bus-stops away arriving at our doorstep and we just can't help but roll our eyes especially at dinner-time.
So....I still refuse to believe when people say other types are louder. They are entitled to their views, sure.....but I still hold to my belief the B9TL is simply the loudest and most irritating.
The VSO is loud.....but its roar is of a lower pitch than the B9TL which really grates on your ears. The VSO is really tolerable after a while.....for the B9TL, it was the reverse.....only after a while did it start roaring. The worst are the ones where the radiator noise doesnt fade away after a certain speed.....7486L is one. But it still wasnt half as loud as 7350P before it got fixed. My god, it was bloody loud!
The only other type of noise that's just as irritating to me and comparable is those fuckers who zhng their bike/car to make them sound super cool.
Yes! The B9TL rank alongside them. That's how loud I think some of them are.
I tell u , my house is on the 13th floor..... Every morning can hear them roaring. :)

Why? Don't tell me is Double Decker then you....
I should prefer Scania.

First reason. There are 1100 units of Scania K230UBs while there is 200 + 1500 units of Volvo B9TL. Doesn't it get boring to have Scania K230UBs running everywhere with the same bodywork? At least the Volvo B9TL have 2 bodyworks (1 is coming soon).
Second reason. The Scania K230UBs vibrates more than the B9TL. Although some B9TLs are an exception.
Third reason. Volvo B9TLs are more efficient and have really good acceleration. Alongside the reason that it has more seats and it is much more quieter inside the bus than the K230UB. It won't be a surprise if I sleep on the B9TL on my way to school.

1. You meant Scania KUB more standy area? (vibrates)?
2. Everytime taking bus to school always get B9TL :( The timing and the BUS are the same. Example: SBS7474X tomorrow again SBS7474X EVERYDAY!

dun think its fair to compare single deck with double deck. of course double deck got more seats lah. should compare the K230UB with OC500LE
i have slept in KUBs and B9s before... no problems.
then again, i cant sleep in OCs coz' the ride is too sexciting.
SBS7400J is loud at the 2nd axle suspension. Everytime on uneven roads, it will give very loud "piak piak" sound.
Volvo B9TL rocks. Why people complain about them?

Their acceleration is ok, feels that noise level of engine can be softer.
Just the suspension of tag axle abit loose....
lol ytd, i could hear 7494M which was outside pasir ris int from inside psr int. it was roaring very loud somemore. even the other buses inside the int couldnt compare.
inside the bus isnt noisy. its just outside.

I hardly fall asleep in the bus as I like to look outside...
Yet the radiator from the K230 can put me to sleep @_@
B9s don't because their rides are also much exciting from inside the bus. :)

It's not really the bus that brings the boredom - it's more of the fact that when you encounter a noob driver (those that let go of the pedal just as the bus shifts, thus producing a jerk) that makes you sleepy.
Slow and jerky rides are known to make people sleepy. Like how I always fall asleep on sv. 119 irregardless of which bus I am on.
using the handbrake to stop the bus is awesome..
should try it on the kubs..

SBS8116Z don't really roar so loud , is SBS8120K which roars loudly.
