If you're categorising a bus which has no steps from the entrance up to the rear, Citaro is not the first in Singapore. The Volgren B10TL has this feature as well. Citaro should be the first single-deck bus which is fully low floor from the front to the rear.

From your pic, seems I can't see exactly where is the PIW bay. I got a Citaro Rigid model from bro Acx1688 and notice that the PIW bay is at where SMRT current O405 standee bay is. Is it the same place?
Cheers.

The PIW/standee area of this citaro would be the same as the Euro V KUBs, which is on the right (left from front). Although it has only 1 PIW slot, there are still alot of seats available rather than the OCs.

Hmm I thought SMRT might surprise us with something special.
Cheers.

How would you if its a Voith. Citaros can be fitted with ZFs also.

Summary of the Citaro (info collected by earlier posts):
- First Citaro bought in Singapore.
- First to run on BlueTec.
- Equipped with Voith 854.3 (4-Speed) gearbox.
- Uses Gorba EDS (same as SBST OC)
- First bus to have full low floor from front to rear (except when going to the rear most seats at the back)
Mercs Citaro is not in C&C today. Never saw the bus as I took 154 at around 4.10pm.

You do believe things just like that? There is in this world something called customization. Just like how some organization brought some MANs and fitted it with wonderful Allison gearboxes, instead of leaving it untouched with some synchromesh gearbox.

Wrong, what are the 134 buses before it having?

It has not been there for a few days already. Wonder if it is at any of the 3 depots??

The new gearboxes, voith and zf alike, seem to incorporate the use of extensive engine-braking. I don't like it at all, it makes the braking rather rough.
and the loud revving of engines upon braking.
not very peaceful.

1. True
2. FALSE: All of your OC 500 LEs use BlueTec technology.
3. FALSE: They will most likely have either ZF 6HP 592s or ZF 6AP 1400Bs.
4. Not 100% sure but many Citaros have Hanover displays.
5. FALSE: First RIGID SINGLE DECKER to by fully low floor in Singapore.

Dave

It is basically a fuel additive.

BlueTec is Mercedes-Benz terminology for a combination of a Euro 2-calibrated engine and Selective Catalytic Reduction to achieve emissions lower than Euro 3.
