I actually find scrapping of ELBOs is kinda wasted. They seem to be good buses for 950 once the JB Merc are due for scrapping ... ...

Good buses for massage after all the tired muscles after shopping in JB City Square.
The aircon and the bodywork must be refurbished if really going to use them on JB. That condition will bring all the commuters to take SBST and CW link.
the JB mercz defies it age..till today i still feel like those buses are bought quite recently.
????
So fast scrap liao???
These buses quite nice to sit leh. Bigger chairs than the rest of SMRT fleet. Some of them Air-Con in perfect condition. Some so cold though I admit some are hot like hell.
Only standing is a big problem cos of the squeezy middle.
I'll definitely miss them.
Hope that they will donate one unit to SAF for training purposes

950 frequency is crap though. It is longer than service 966.

The queues are horrifying ... ... but 902 queue is worse

Think such buses will look a bit like the old SBS Volvo B57/NZMB buses in the past.

It is actually spelt as "ΕΛΒΟ" a greek word, with the second letter as Λ which is Lamda, the 11th letter in the Greek alphabet, equivalent to L in English.
Hence the pronunciation of ΕΛΒΟ as elbo, not EABO.
The batch of Scania L113CRL buses TIB833X-837K, 839E-848D are of Elbo bodywork from Greece.
ΕΛΒΟ is a registered trademark of Hellenic Vehicles Industry S.A.

Wow.Singapore's public buses use a bodywork which is from Greece which is like so unique and uncommon.Scania L113RL Elbo are definitely unique buses.sad that this unique feature has to go off with the Elbos so fast.
Ok folks....
This is a discussion board to share our knowledge and expertise, not as a punching bag for SMRT CEO.
And please, do show her due respect, especially as far as I am concerned, I am an employee of this company. Not that I am bootlicking, but please refrain from posting degratory remarks in this forum.
Thanks.

Then again, I find nothing to criticise her about.

I think criticise her no use....SMRT will not change anyway

they will just dig themselves deeper into the pit.

You think whoever reading this is stupid and won't put it in context? And SPH, the press holdings one isn't some small fry either.

Creates and distributes newspapers and magazines to the 4 million population. That's no joke.
Seriously some of you guys need to use your brains a bit......some of the posts are so ridiculously biased that I don't bother reading beyond the first sentence because it is usually some boring rhetoric.

That is not the real point that should be driven home.
Courtesy should be accorded to someone no matter what.

All that changed in 1999. Wonder if the transport minister o that time regrets his decision.
Still, public transport in SG is still more efficient than in some other cities. I think not that many cities have such frequent bus routes as we do.

I still think Ng Ser Miang had better sense than Saw. She killed off the high-class image set by Tibs in the mid 1990s. Now it is SBST and their double decks that are winning respect.

40% WAB without fleet expansion do sound bad, but parking space and manpower is a major constraint for both bus companies these days. Keeping a bus fleet young can be a good strategy. Reminds me of what SIA used to do (and perhaps now too).
I think anyone would agree that having lesser models could prove more cost efficient than having few. 900 K230s from SBS Transit could prove this point.
If Saw doesn't look into profits, do you think you can have OC500LEs now? If the profits dipped into the negative regions, you won't even have King Longs.
Even so, I see no reason why SMRT has to buy from Daimler Benz again considering SBST turned to Scania for their WAB rigids.
Don't be surprised if the MAN NG313 appears in SG as our nation's first-ever Euro 5 LPG-powered WAB bendy.

To the general public 's perspective, both SMRT and SBST are almost equal footing.
