Well, I'm not sure what are interesting places to look out for, not backpacking but definitely going to take lots of photos...so yeah..
Won't be staying at the beach, but Georgetown instead.
Georgetown is REALLY old.... don't think the local government invested a lot in promoting this place.... photo-opportunites may include China town and the Tower (dang! can't remember the name) which is really quite crappy. Admittedly, I did not want to go to Georgetown much so there might be better places to shoot there.
A better bet is to stay at Batu Ferringgi, there's a pasar malam every night and there are a couple of good outdoor eateries,
Or go the relocated Gurney Drive hawker center... all for the or-luak and satay bee hoon.
Or go to Gurney Mall, reasonably classy with good restaurants.
...but considering the distance between Georgetown and Batu Ferringgi, night visits may not be too convenient.... cab fares can be quite high (of course, if you drive, then it's a different issue..... maybe can park at the hotels there, pay more, but safer)
