Dearest diary,
One upon a time.... in a land far far away.. there lived a princess.
Now unlike her royal sisters, she lacks the beauty and the talents in any form of art. But yet she is most loved by everybody around her, because of her cheerfulness. She is always laughing and smillling away.So carefree and happy she was, that she brings much happiness and smiles to the people around.
The princess believed that she have everything there is to have in the world. After she is a of the royal blood, and with the royal parents so lovingly lavishing everything on her, what else could she be lack of???
Now the princess is never a vain person. She does not spend hours looking into the mirror, nor does she takes aeons to dress up. She knew that she lack the looks her sisters have and thus never really takes too much care to look her best.
One day, a travelling merchant came to the doorstep of the royal castle. This jack of all trade, had all kinds of things to sell.
His wares are all decidely unique.. as they are brought all the way from the mystical east...
The princess went over to have a look, and the very first thing that caught her eyes was this bolt of cloth! It is so very beautiful.. The cloth was made of the finest material.. so silky and smooth it was that it seems to be floating around.
The merchant, seeing the sparkle of interest in the princess's eyes set out to convince her to buy the cloth...
With his honeyed and sweet words... he managed to convinced her that with this bolt of cloth.. she'll be able to make the finest dress there is in the kingdom... and being the owner of the dress.. won't she be deemed the prettiest girl around... after all such fine dress would surely make the wearer very beautiful... won't she be the envy of all...
The princess although happy all her life... could not help but think that she has most everything but beauty... and now it seems even that is within her grasps...
Convinced that the cloth will make her a beautiful lady... she sets out to make the most beautiful dress there is...
So concern was her of the dress.. that she spends all day and night supervising the making of the dress...
Nobody sees much of her anymore...
The castle lost her laughter and smiles... and in replace... there were only frowns and harsh words coming out...
After three long months, the dress was finally finished...
Excited... she quickly summon her royal siblings and parents.. with intention of showing off her beautiful dress...
As she walked in the room... and rose her head proudly... and looked around.. she heard gasps... and smiled inwardly at the thought of how envious her sisters are...
But instead all she saw was looks of horror on their faces..
You see... the princess was as ugly as ever... there is no sign of cheerfulness in her face any longer... instead her face were lined with frowns...
Nope.. the most beautiful dress did not made her the most beautiful girl around.. It made her the ugliest girl there is...
The moral of the story????
Never trust a merchant... you'll lose everything you have...
