hahah..i'm not arguing anything what..btw you don't have to worry about tarnishing my faith in IT or anything for that matter..i don't give blind faith for anything undeserving..you can go ahead and lay out all the facts objectively..btw, given the poor job market for local IT professionals, they shouldn't mind getting china/india pay. -

Still, there are folks taking the wage cut, but not that they don't mind.

As for serving country's IT needs..
If interpreted as national IT needs, the local firms are as options (possibly with some vantage; market protection?) against leagues of competitors, to be marked on copious criterias which i have no idea so i'm just guessing.
if interpreted as needs of citizens whom are IT professionals, in the provision of jobs towards them.. Generally, firms just source for budget labor, tho sometimes we see preference for locals extended.
For sure, it seeks to meet it's own needs first. -

got a couple of friends working in govt agencies and GLC.. though they are not facing retrenchment, but the board has no intention of renewing their contracts after all these years of service.
though it sound like the inclusion of engagement bonus and training are gotta cost more compared to using the seasoned staff, it seems to me that they are more interested in new blood.
one good example is kopiosatu. they even allows bumz like him to sign on. -

having computer skills and learning mathematics, it has become necessary?
If it's that sort of basic IT skills, then of course everyone has it.
More is needed when it comes to designing IT systems, writing code or analysizng systems. -

I am not here to tarnish your faith on IT profession. It's far cheaper than what you have stated if a professional worker is to be hired from India.
SIA has also outsourced some of it's IT related services to India.
Anyway, if one is looking for jobs. It's good to think of something that's hard to outsource, some jobs that requires your physical
existence.
