The reaction to SARS is ridiculous and malu-ating.
First, parents ask schools to close.
Then, after schools close, parents worried about school work.
Next thing you know, everyone doesn't dare to go out.
PLEASE, read the papers and be educated! SARS isn't airborne, unless you are in contact with a severely sick fella, with dripping nose, and touching his saliva, or his hands after he wipes his nose and so on, and then u go ahead and happily wipe your mouth and so on, otherwise you'll be fine!

wah i read yesterday's newpaper and saw that the number of SARS victim are 90+ and 3 dead. i think this morning, another 1 dead.

i kinda remember yesterday's news saying that they don't even know how it is transmitted and COULD be airborne... even the doctors aren't sure.. why do they wear masks when it's not airborne? they aren't taking chances...
frankly, i think lives are infinitely more valuable than anything... that includes little inconveniences..
or has singaporeans become so self-centred that relief of boredom outweighs security and safety of their family members and loved ones?

It is not airborne. As long as u are not within three feet of a SAR victim. The virus can live on "some objects" for more that three hrs. But most of the time it will be dead within minutes in air. Hope this info helpOriginally posted by the Bear:not airborne?

btw, ppl read the papers but at which point was there confirmation that it was air-borne or not? hongkong is an excellant example of how rapid the virus can spread so its not unusual for ppl to react in such a manner. u dun even need to be in contact, just within three feet of those who fall under the Super Infectious category. -

with all these SARS and the war... u all got the feeling tat the world is coming to an end? this is another issue but not related to SARS..
although singaporean are kia si, but it is good to take some precautions.. i think those parents is kindda of gan chiong for their kids' safey, thus explaining the need for school so suspend lessons.. if there isnt a need to suspend lessons, the MOE also wouldnt listen to the views of the parents....
as long as u keep ur immune system high, take good care of urself.. u will be safe.. dont need to worry tat much.. am i right in saying tat? -

He feels he's correct in relieving his boredom, while others trying to take precautions like his family whom he refuses to listen to may suffer with him?
