Enlist for National Service
Enlistment is the process you go through when you report for full-time National Service.
Enlistment Notice
You will be notified of your enlistment date and assigned unit through an Enlistment Notice about 2 months prior to your enlistment.
The Enlistment Notice will provide you with information about your unit, as well as the date and time for your parents to visit you. Accompanying the Notice, will be a letter from your assigned unit, informing you of the enlistment procedures. A route map will be attached to the notice to help you locate the unit.
Enlistment Day
On the day of your enlistment, there will be an oath-taking ceremony. As this is a solemn formality, you are required to be properly dressed with proper shoes. Please do not attend the ceremony in singlets, shorts/bermudas and slippers.
The enlistment process will be as follows :
Your SAF Card and Identity Discs will be issued to you in exchange for your National Registration Identity Card.
You will be issued with a gift bag.
You will be ushered to the oath taking area whereby your parents will be able to witness the mass oath taking ceremony. Thereafter, you will be given some time to bid farewell to your parents and loved ones before heading to your assigned unit. -

Things to Note:
1. Companies A to K are under BMTC SCH1, Companies L to W are under BMTC SCH2.
2. These direct enlistment dates may subject to changes.
3. Each Enlistee is allowed 5 family members to accompany them to BMTC on Enlistment day.

Symoblisation of The SAF BMTC Logo:
1. The Crest
The Crest comprises an UPRIGHT UNSHEATHED BAYONET superimposed over a SHIELD. A BANNER at the base of the Shield proudly espouses the Centre's Motto "EXCEL THROUGH BASICS". These symbols or motifs are centrally upheld by the initials of the Basic Military Training Centre - "BMTC". The entire Crest is set against a red background with a diagonal yellow stripe, symbolising our infantry roots.
2. The initials "BMTC"
The initials BMTC across the centre of the Crest reinforces the central role that the Centre plays in laying the foundation of soldiering skills to new recruits. It stands out against the red background with pride with the aim of attaining training excellence.
3. The Shield
The Shield represents the primary contribution of the Army towards the defence of Singapore. The yellow stripe against the red background depicts the ever rising aspirations of the Army and the determination to strive on despite adversities. The combination of red and yellow in the shield symbolises the synergistic strengths of BMTC with its Formation, HQ Infantry, and the central bonding role that BMTC sets in providing the training standards of all enlistees within the two BMTC Schools. Collectively, they uphold the belief that a strong foundation in the individual soldier will lead to a stronger Army and a stronger defence force.
4. The Banner and Motto
Our motto "EXCEL THROUGH BASICS" epitomizes BMTC's role and commitment towards the training of recruits. It is because of the belief that the individual infantry soldier is important in any kind of warfare, regardless of level of technology. Our commitment to instill the basic soldiering knowledge, discipline and values is embodied in the Banner.
5. The Unsheathed Bayonet
The Bayonet is representative of the Infanteer. It symbolises the strong foundation that will be laid for all soldiers emphasising the ability to strike at will, exemplifying the nature of our citizen soldiers and commitment to training excellence. -
BMTC Compound
BMTC
BMTC makes important decisions pertaining to training standards in BMT and logistic and administrative support are made here in this block. BMTC, together with CCO Pulau Tekong, oversees all the new facilities and equipment available in Pulau Tekong.
The facilities include a new Olympic-size swimming pool, 2 tennis courts, 3 badminton courts, 3 squash courts, 5 basketball courts, table tennis tables, football field and a stadium. On 17 Aug 1999, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Dr Tony Tan, officiated at the SAF BMTC Opening Ceremony and unveiled the National Service Landmark -
