Been searching and sending out over 100 applications already but still no job... Why is it so hard to find a decent job with a decent salary that matches your education nowadays? Makes me feel as though my local diploma from a local polytechnic is useless. Anyone facing the same shitty situation as me?
r u looking at the right places?
r ur expectations too high?
r u finding positions that u are really suitable for?
ask not what the world can do for u
but what u can do for the world
Hmm

Hi fireice,
I've been looking through JobStreet, indeed, LinkedIn, stjobs, agencies, etc for graphic designing jobs. I feel that my expectations aren't high because at least a $2k for diploma full time job isn't too much right? I have previous experience in designing, a portfolio and a recent employee even told me my works "look good" but eventually after emailing and texting multiple times to ask for the outcome she told me that I wasn't shortlisted.
I'm worried now because I have a 3 month gap of unemployment and if I take up some random job I will be back to square 1 eventually and drifting further away from my goal.
Have you applied through the Job Bank? Give it a try. There are plenty of employers looking for people. If you have to, adjust your salary expectations. Sometimes it takes time to get the right match. Persever on.
Hi Shxmy,
You may want to approach your area's people's association so that they can recommend and direct you to government portals on employment assistence.
Or try WDA website here:
Don't lose heart keep trying. At least you are healthy and have no issues with full time work.

when you applied job, do you meet their criteria? things like, education, related expereince, salary or even location?
also, you dont only need to work for others, you can always do free lance, graphic design should be able to... i mean at least try to find something to do since the only thing you are doing now is sending resume and prolly free... you never know it might just work out for you
define "decent"....
Just hav to keep trying and persevere. Someone with a bachelor of science can't even get employed in the public sector due to mental health history, and the private sector is not like the Givernment sector when you can walk so free and spend government money or donations organizing evnts just llike an event organizer. Further your studies with masters in counselling so that at least you can do jobs in mental health industries that requires a relevent certification instead of theat bachelor of science that is only as good as a diploma for peer work. Unless of course you intend to do medicine.
What is decent according to you
I understand all the problems here perfectly. In my case im considered too old. Anything over 40 it seems need to lie in the coffin already!
what do you mean by Decent?
The population in SG is increasing, ang all of them are competing to each other.
You need to give your best and make sure that you have those characteristics that every company wants to their employees.
Singapore poor population is 10 girls to 9 guys.
so there should not be a reason why u are single
Times are bad .
omg..the second guys says as same as prisident bushi:).
anyway, that's ture. please come to China where you can find a decend job and decend salary as well and also with affordable costs..
then why so many china ppl coming here and other countries?
it also depends on ur expectation...and if u r value-added to ur boss. All the best for ur job search!
I feel super stressed as I have to face Miss C (manager of the company) and Mr K ( director). Pay damn low. I am turning 30 soon. How? Miss C likes to shoot arrow to me and Mr K likes to nag and nag and nag (nobody can stop him, even his family members)
In such a competive society, just having diploma is insufficient, people are now looking at relevant work experience in addition to your diploma. They are also looking for additional skills and training that you have attendent or completed in your previous jobs. However, don't be discourage, just keep looking. i advice you to just apply for any jobs, event if the pay is not up to your expected salary, just stay in that job first and while in that job continue to fine another job that is better.
nowadays garment says no need degree... so should not be hard! jobs are everywhere, u could be too choosy
