  REACHING NEW DEPTHS: British dive instructor Mark Ellyatt (right) plunges to a depth of 313m to set a new world record for the deepest scuba dive, off Phuket, Thailand, on Dec 18. Beating the previous mark by 5m, he took 12 minutes to make the descent but needed 6 hours and 40 minutes to return safely to the surface
