what's the meaning of respect?? respect elders all time?? how about unfortunate people and ppl who is trying to struggle to improve life?

respecting elders, doesn't mean giving in to elders all the time, but do what they want, because after all, they are older than we all, and they did play some part in our growing up phrase....
for my case, not being overly-defiant, is being respectful liaoz..., if i'm wrong, i will admit, if i'm right, i make sure i get the msg across....
depends on how well u communicate wif ur elders, that's the crux of handling such a fragile r/s -

So, what about the parents-in-law if living under the same roof? i dun think they deserve my respect even they r in 50s n much older than me since they how hurts me physically n verbally. i feel that one is to earn respect, people will respect you.

currently, in my family, i'm seeing a case of family rift... caused by one person in the family, but no matter what that person did, all of us has to respect that person, because that person made it possible for all of us to be living until now.... focus not on what irks u, focus on what has been more impt....
for ur case, i can't really remember liao... but, living under same roof, sometimes.. give in, if all else fails, have a talk out altogether... -
