RIKI-OH: THE STORY OF RICKY: Welcome to NAM NAI CHOI's beyond-the-senses Martial Arts bloodbath spectacle of broken body parts and busted internal organs, THE STORY OF RIKI. This is one of those rare movies that's just sooo horrible that it's just simply great fun to watch! To give you an idea of what's going on here, let's think about it in terms of a couple other movies. Picture this: BRUCE LEE on steroids, locked in a futuristic prison where the inmates run the show, fighting apocalyptic ROAD WARRIOR-styled bad guys with the FIST OF THE NORTHSTAR power, and you've got a good visual of this flick. As for the story or plot, well, there isn't really one. And if there is, it's just simply a vehicle to string together all the insanely bloody fight scenes (which is why you're here in the first place remember). And let me tell ya, these are some of the nastiest battles you're likely to ever see. Oh, you just gotta love those campy cheap early 90's gore props! There are so many scenes of over-the-top mayhem and juicy red splatter in this movie that it would be impossible to list them all but without thinking too hard, these scenes of carnage spring to mind first... Riki punches one dude so hard in the side of the stomach that his guts come busting out the other, a man gets the back of his head slapped so hard, his eyeball comes flying out of the socket and lands on the ground as a pack of birds suddenly swoop in to eat it (a truely great and unforgettable scene), Riki jabs his hand up threw the bottom of a man's jaw until it comes out of his mouth, Riki's arm is cut open so to stop the bleeding, he digs into the wound, grabs the vein, and ties it in a knot and continues fighting (it looks like it oh so painful too), a mute convict who's tongue has been cut out gets skinned alive, a gun that fires bullets making you swell up and explode from the inside, one man tries to kill Riki by slashing his own belly open and using his own intestines to strangle our hero with (certainly an unique way to do someone in with), and an ending so moist and so reminiscent of DEAD ALIVE (aka BRAIN DEAD) that PETER JACKSON would definitely be proud of. Yup, you're right, it's graphic scenes of graphic violence intended for viewers of graphic material. So let's all raise our hands to be proud to fall into that category.
