Wang confident but wary against bottom-placed Paya Lebar
Point-less Paya Lebar Punggol will be taking a trip down to the Jurong Stadium this Friday as they meet fellow league strugglers, Sinchi FC.
In a bottom-of-the-table clash, the Chilins will look to heap more misery on the Seahorses and deny them any point yet again.
Even though Paya Lebar has lost all their matches in the league so far, SinchiÂ’s vice-chairman, Wang Jinhui, is not underestimating the S.League newcomer.
He said: “Paya Lebar is at the bottom of the league but that does not mean anything. Sinchi will take the match against them very seriously.”
SinchiÂ’s league form this season has been quite disappointing, as they have only managed two wins and two draws so far.
Though they are through to the quarter-finals, after fending off the challenge of Bruneian side DPMM FC, they languish in ninth position, far off the mid-table target set before the season started.
Wang admitted that the match against Paya Lebar will be crucial in SinchiÂ’s aim to improve their league standings but he was that his boys will be able to do the job.
Said Wang: “Now our position in the league is not very good. Sinchi will go out there and try to get the points.
“I think out team will perform well. Our morale has been returning slowly in recent weeks. Also, the media in China just did a write-up on our soccer in Singapore."
With their confidence and morale boosted, Sinchi looks on course to chart their third victory of the season.
While Wang blamed last weekÂ’s defeat against Woodlands Wellington on the lack of quality within his side, it will be a different story this Friday. The Chilins surely have enough quality compared to Paya Lebar.
However, the Seahorses are boosted with the services of two new signings, Nahar Daud and Basri Halis. Hopefully they can help improve the team's proficiency in front of goal.
Despite putting in gutsy performances against big boys such as Tampines Rovers and Woodlands Wellington, Paya LebarÂ’s strikers could not translate their chances into goal.
While the Seahorses can be counted on to put a hard fight at the Jurong Stadium this Friday, coach Chow Kwai Lam will have to solve their attacking woes if the Seahorses are to nick their first point from Sinchi.
