Team Equipping (Soccer) & Future Games

[b]May I have your opinions on the issues of equipping our team as well as the arrangement for our future games.
Before we go into that, we need the FULL committment of our core members. If we have a ready number of committed players (at least about 16 - must take into consideration like injuries and other committments), I am ready to take the next step of getting things going.
The way I look at it, our committed core group comprises of the following:
1. Myself 2. Russ 3. Alvin 4. Khairul 5. Chester
6. Ian 7. Damien 8. Charles 9. Jeremy 10. Jimmy
11. Alfred 12. Robin
In addition to the above list, I am in view to buy the following players:
1. Jae
2. Jason
3. Patrick
4. Michael (I heard he can play keeper too
...BEST!!)
5. Ah Boon
If everybody is agreeable, I suggest that each of us pump in an individual sum ranging from $30-$40 (depending on what jersey we are buying). I just came back from Queensway and I got the following information:
1. "Sleese" full set - $27 (orange, blue)
2. "Diadora" full set - $35 (orange, yellow, dark blue)
3. "Pony" full set - $35 (red, white, blue)
4. "Umbro" full set (the best) - $40 normal but $35 if we pay in full (very nice designs and colors; gold, red, blue, white)
If we purchase 15 sets and above, we will get 1 free ball. If it's 20 sets and above, choice of 1 ball or team bag (for jerseys). We can collect everything in 3 days. Prices include printing of numbers. I forgot to check the price for keeper's set.
Looking at the way things are going, it's quite a hassle to get opponents. In addition, we may not have our own field by end of this year. If it's ok for everyone, we pay "lobang" referrees a sum of $90/- to settle the field, opponents and referree. That would mean collecting a sum of about $10/- from everybody for every game. My concern is the students in our team.
Guys, are we ready to take the next step?? Pls think through. I want your views before discussing with the rest of our group.
By the way, I will stop using the bibs and balls that I have been providing. However, I just bought a Diadora ball for the team.
Will be collecting a token sum from all of you tommorrow.

it's been about 3 months or so since we got the team together and i must say we are shaping up quite nicely. i don't see any reason why we should not take the next step and get the necessary gear and equipment. we would have to get them sooner or later anyway.
as for the issue of money, i agree with robin that our concern here is with the students in the team. personally i think $30-$40 for the jerseys is still affordable....anyway it's a one-off payment and we get to keep and maintain our own gear.
i like the idea of engaging the services of the 'lobang' referee...would broaden our choice of opponents. the previous team i played for did the same for the same fee. as for payment, what we did was to get the 1st team players to pay $7 per game while the reserves pay $5. i think this is a fair arrangement and should be enough to cover the $90 fee.
i really hope we can get things done asap coz our sunday program is beginning to get a bit monotonous and i just don't want our players to start losing interest.... -

By the way, does anybody else have contacts for teams to play against? I'm afraid I really don't have any and we can't always depend on Robin and Khairul.

....I mean today??? Have been thinking for a long time, the red umbro is really nice. The display has a England badge on it, I wonder does it comes together...very chio lehhh -

Khai, The umbro red is really very nice, not like the normal one, maybe you can come and check out the jerseys with us. However, we are most likely heading down to our friend's pub after that. Think about it and let us know. Cheers. -

I guess we have more or less settled on the red kit. I guess now we just need to confirm the head count, decide on how many spares (if any) and decide on the numbers and sizes for each player. Alvin and I tried to get the shop to throw in boots and shin-pads, but Robin was against it...
