When is the award gonna be held?

The awards will be given out on 4 May 2002. Personally I'm glad that Sandy Lam is nominated in all the major categories, best album, best female vocalist and best producer. For the newcomer category, I think Peggy Hsu will be the hot favourite. A bit disappointed that Yong Bang is not nominated in the newcomer category, if Stella Ng can be nominated, I can't see why Yong Bang cannot.

Well, yah, the list is okay...but i don't see why Stella can be nominated and not yong bang...at least he does not sound/act cute and he has more shi li than stella act cute ng.
Surprised that faye wong is out of best female vocalist...but surprised tanya managed to squeeze in though.
Thankful for no F4 or WeWe in the music awards. Besides...they dun deserve a nomination.
SHE? For best newcomer...i'm surprised...yi qi? his album did not raise many eyebrows...
and Tension...geez...they have been left out. -

I feel that Yong Bang should be nominated and not stella ng. She is not that new afterall.I feel that she is nominated because Taiwanese like cute gal and she is afterall popular in Taiwan. Hopefully Yong Bang can rise to the popularity level of Jay Zhou and do singapore proud like Sun Yan Zi

Hmm...i am a bit upset that shaun did not make it...and when that stupid stella ng got in...surprise...maybe they find yong bang's style not to their taste...
But relax lar...stella wun win...if talk abt cutesy gals...SHE is way ahead.. -
Here are my predictions for the 2002 13th Golden Melody Awards.
PREDICTION: JAY CHOU'S FANTASY
DARK HORSE: MAYDAY'S REN SHENG HAI HAI
Actually...among all the albums nominated, I think Jay is the best...his style and music is very uniformed...the only i thing i see against his favour...is he has won his award last year...do u tink he can hit a consecutive win?
BEST COMPOSER: JAY CHOU'S AI ZAI XI YUAN QIAN
DARK HORSE: TANYA'S DA CUO LE
All the nominees in this category is evenly matched...But if u have to pick 2 people...i think jay and tanya stands out amongst all the compositions...
BEST LYRICIST:
I can't predict this one...Fang Wenshan has 3 nominations...but as a result might cancel out each other...with the votes and might suffer the Sammi Cheng syndrome...Zhang Jinyi's lyrics is a hokkien lyrics. Huang Shujun;s is insightful...Chen Xiaojuan is simple...arrgh...cannot decide.

Although Peggy Hsu and Stella Huang are so called singer-songwriter, but Peggy's depth is song-writing is much more proficient than Stella Huang. Besides, Stella's album songs are not entirely written by her...peggy has the potential to go far. Wat abt Yi Qi, his music probably falls on deaf ears...SHE is popular...and they harmonise okay...and they r popular...but whether they can sing???...

I made this prediction based on the fact that the judges tend to surprise us...so...

It's time was Harlem to win...who could bring a storm to every part of the world with just that one song...and he has long to be paid his dues. Eason Chan might however be a surprise...becoz yes...he sings well.
BEST FEMALE VOCALIST:
PREDICTION: AH MEI
DARK HORSE: SANDY LAM
Sorry, I am not saying that Singaporeans are not good...but tanya is an unlikely winner (i wish she picks best composer)...unless they wanna reward her for composing well. Yanzi is relatively new...and still lacks feelings in her act...Shunza is a strong contender, but she had won b4 but the album, And Music's There isn't really a crowd pleaser. Winnie Tsin's rendition/cover of Korean songs probably wun go down too well. The real race is Sandy Lam and Ah Mei. The former will be in HK busying herself with her concert...and with her 2 previous albums better, she might not come thru. Ah Mei, like Harlem, deserves to be paid her dues. Zhen Shi's album is an honest effort, and the album is really back to basics...without playing around with the music.

I think Mayday is a shoo-in for the Best Band award.
So should Peggy Hsu for Best Newcomer, but SHE is getting more attn so hard to say. It's a crime that Yong Bang was overlooked and Stella got in instead... sheeesh
All things being equal, would you still bet on Harlem and A*Mei for Best Vocalists? It's being they got "sympathy votes" should they win, and that would be a real pity. Should they not win, I hope the award goes to the next best singers, Eason and Sandy
