Min Ge Can Ting

Has any1 been to any min ge can ting?? i've only been to ai qin hai b4 and must say, i'm really impressed by those singing on the stage... i like the way they interact with the audience.... hen hu dong... hehehe
but as far as i know, there's only 3 min ge cn ting left?? ai qin hai, mu chuan and lao di fang?? any other places u guys know of?? would really like to visit one when i'm back...

ai qin hai is not bad...
lao di fang? tot closed down liao? the one at marina sq got singing?

one more place, tan chang ren....havent been there but heard it's not bad, quite alot of min yao and xinyao singing there.

just asking... do you have to be a certain age before you can enter any ming ge can ting? -
No age limit, that is of course they will much prefer you not to bring kids along. Imagine someone on the stage singing when a child brawls away.
Music Dreamer in Marina Sq, Muchuan in Apollo Centre, Tan Chang Ren in Radin Mas CC, Yi Pao Er Hong in Chinatown (near Club St)...that's about all I know. Mu Ji Ta think closed down liao. Lao Di Fang formerly in Far East Sq shut liao, the one in Marina Sq think no singing, only food. -
oh.. i didn't know that lao di fang in far east sq has closed down...
where is radin mas CC?? is it newly opened?? cos i dun think i've heard of tan chang ren b4...
i didn't know that yi pao er hong is a min ge can ting... been there once during a weekday and it's so quiet there... had thot it was just normal karaoke for the patrons to sing on stage... -

Yi Pao Er Hong last time think got people singing one, but now don't know leh...come to think of it, I passed by it a few times at night, but don't remember seeing people sing inside
Tan Chang Ren been around for quite some time liao, though not as long as MuChuan which is about a decade old. Radin Mas CC is a very old CC (but most probably would have been renovated) in Telok Blangah Crescent. The nearest bus interchange is Bukit Merah.
Btw, TCR also organised the xinyao/tw minyao event held recently, with Zheng Yi and Zeng Shu Qin. -

i used to be a die-hard fan of ai qin hai.....but erm now.....interests divert elsewhere
i've been to this mi ge can ting once coz me n my frenz wanna take part in this particular singing contest or watso ever.....
it's at located near the tanjong pagar mrt....at this surai station....outdoor performing stage unlike the rest mentioned by helpful pple. it's a nice place. they r really singers though....not entertainers like in ermmmmm.....

Been there recently and it was rather quiet -

in fact, there're altogether 4 existing ming ge can ting in singapore at this present moment as follows:
1) muchuan - 1 at apollo centre & 1 at suntec
2) yi pao er hong - beside maxwell market
3) ai qing hai - marina square
4) tan chang ren - radin mas cc
muchuan & ai qing hai have performance everyday, but yi pao er hong only have performance on fri & sat night. as for tan chang ren, haven't been there before so not very sure... :p

They only sing xinyao or ming yao or pop songs too..??
Anyway, can explain what is xin yao or ming yao?

well, minyao is more to songs from taiwan, like "lan hua cao", "ye bai he ye you chun tian", "gan lan shu"... etc
xinyao are songs from singapore, during around 80's to 90's, sang by singers like eric moo, shui cao san chong chang, li fei hui, liang wen fu, yan li ming... etc
in min ge can ting, different groups of performers tend to perform different sets of songs. Some only perform xinyao songs, with very little pop songs. Some perform more pop songs with a little mix of xinyao songs. finally, some groups have a good balance of xinyao & pop songs! u have to see what suits your preference lor! -
U mean Yi Pao Er Hong is still around? Thot it has closed it doors already. I've been there before i and love it! The singers at Ming Ge Can Ting are really good, and you can hear their passion as they belt out tune after tune...

U can find them at Chinatown....Bishan Junction 8 n one more at West Mall?!? & dunno somewhere near Lao Ba Sa....
I used to be quite a Loyal Patron of Ai Qin Hai....
if u like some some Singing + Entertainment....try the place on Sat
got Cai Lilian...Chiongshun??!.....Lin Weibing....etc.....
