I do like Sandee Chan's Chen Shanni's work...agree that lai bu ji is one of the most haunting songs...with her tone...i got only one of her own albums...but i would say she can work her magic on other singers.
Sure would love to see my name up on the nominees list some day...takes sometime...and one lucky break...realise writing lyrics is pretty hard...somehow...i need someone who is willing to take a risk and groom me ya...

I am not a music connoisseur, that's for sure. I can crap in a forum about music, but it doesn't mean I got standards. My standards are in fact quite suspect...I'm just fine with throwing a few words and comments, here and there, for the sake of sharing opinions with other like-wise thinkers, like now. I don't mind if you are willing to groom me though

Just be tolerant towards them, just like I did to the 7th month ge-tais near my house

Ya? no! i don't think anyone sat down with xiaohan and 'groom' her...she took all the shit and did it all herself...just like me or anyone who took the route to this job without carrying balls or trying to find some shortcut(I know of some who has done this and succeeded)....of course if u wanna try that...there is a way to do it and it's possible but end of the day, it's what u want to acheive for yourself...whether u want ppl to respect u or u just wanna earn some dirty $$$ and get some short term 'glory' coz tis type of thing cannot last...
how to say this ah? i think in this day of the music market..the competition is so strong and everyone is good that only those who really work their ass off will get to come up...and don't even say lyrics writer..even artistes nowadays...most of them don't get the luxury like last time..where a label will sign someone, assign a producer to the artiste and slowly groom nice nice and then record company will release...no! nowadays everyone is so good...record companies will want instant noodle goods...tat means can sing well already, and everything is prepared for them so they can straight away pack it up and sell as instant noodles in the music supermarket....
then that goes back to the question...if the competition can do it...so can u...so the only advice is work on it and u can do it...don't wait for the market to come to u...go to the market...that's common sense...to me lah...
then of course...lastly, u need some luck...but luck without talent is crap...as compared to talent without luck...at least talent without luck, u can entertain your grandmother in the family reunion dinner...u also need fate, but if fate brings something to u, and u're not prepared...then u are screwed too...and u shld bang your head on the wall so hard...
BUT this is just my little humble opinion...

But now with fierce competition, it doesn't help even if you have talent but don't know how to peddle your ware. Because you'll probably get passed over for someone with mediocre skills but great PR ability. It sounds like the usual boring working world, but it probably reflects that of the entertainment industry too.

How could such a thing happen just under my nose!

poor xiaohan...I don't think the award trophy cost value is as much as your stuff, right? The security is really quite horrible then...didn't they separate the fans from the vip seats well enough? I thought you were sitting quite in front, but someone still managed to get your bag?
Maybe you can try lodge a report to Suntec security (or whichever company undertaking the security work that evening). Hope you'll be able to get it back...good luck hoh.... -

hahha yah lah thanks man...but there was actually no competition or no fight frm me lah coz the song i was nominated for was a song that nobody knew and a song with a history i rather not mention, all my other songs tat ppl knew (paper plane, A Ju yu le and other songs that actually had airplay)were mysteriously taken out of the loop or just rejected by "policies"...
with no explanation...but well, tat's up for them to decide anyway. i shall just go on doin what i'm doin the way i like it!
but for xiaohan is a well deserved win coz u have been working on this craft longer and harder then the rest in our new generation of writers...so lets forget about tat damn bag lah cock! hahaha...it's fine lah...ask our boss to buy u a new phone to compensate lah?! hahaha! is that a great idea or what? hard work shld be rewarded(talking about tis i'll call up mon later! hahhah) -
Actually this kind of award ceremonies always full of ironies and long-due recognition all mixed into a single event. Some people who always mo mo gen yun and work hard behind the scenes will get their chance to be singled out for praise in this kind of ceremony. However, at the same time, some people's better works are always overshadowed by others just because these works are not glam or "famous" enough to win the awards.
Best way to react to this kinda things is to celebrate your triumph and soak in the elation as much as you can. After that, put it at the back of your mind and move on. The world is moving on every second and won't wait for you, so you need to constantly whip yourself to go forward if you don't want to fall from the pedestal.
For those who did not manage to win the award, see it as a kind of motivation telling you that you are still not at your best yet, and you should always strive to be better than before.
Enjoy while it lasts, coz after that, it's back to business~ -

In fact...SHUN JIAN and A JI YU LE were good...zhi fei ji was not nominated becoz u shared the credit with sandy lam i tink...in fact shun jian is well accepted by a lot of a mei fans.
The awards were predictable lar...but the most unhappy would be He Yao Shan and Sammi fans i suppose. There is no excitement for the awards...except juz tat u hope for the singers u support to win.
The night had SOME VERY BAD SINGING. Coming from a certain Peggy, a certain Yanzi, a certain celest, a certain tay ping hui...
And fashion...S.H.E looks erm...TOO CUTE??? SYZ was horrible in the blue outfit...any comments? -

OK! being a victim myself, even though im not really fans of all the singers that went up there, but the sound up there was horrible...but yet i already expected it...and i could actually predict it was gonna be bad(i was at the last mah) coz all the mistakes most of the singers made are the usual ones when u cannot hear the music or yourself properly(like coming in or ending off with slightly off notes) so well...i cannot defend all of the singers for their live singing talents but some of them suffered from this reason of the sound on the monitors...i just don't really understand sometimes the meaning of 'sound check' over here when the sound in the end is not what we heard when we last checked...

Hey guys, I tend to agree with Eric. Getting an award doesnt mean that a musician is at his best. Coz it is all subjected to lotsa factors, whether the song got airplay or not, whether the panel like the song or not, whether your record company would like to nominate you or not. I think Lee Zongsheng and Lin Xi never ever had an award for best lyrics in Taiwan b4 but NOT becoz they are not at their best. c'mon, they are the best lyricist you can ever find in this century! Everyone can sing their song without having to memorize the words, and get touched by the words all the time! so why dun they get an award, right? like last yr, Naying won TW Golden melody award best lyrics? she herself thought it was a joke!
Getting an award is nice, but that really doesnt mean that you have to become proud and think that you are great or something. In fact I feel more stressed after that that I couldnt sleep a wink that night!
ha! I am quite tall, not small and quiet (as all the 933 pple thought small winter). And a little on the plump side (if thats what you mean by CUTE). haha. But I think everyone expanded 30% on TV! haha!
We are all small time musicians who like to hide in a cave and produce music through the opening for pple who are not afraid of the weird looking creatures inside. So it doesnt really matter how we look or how we dress, right?

well b4 u run...go preview carefully 1st...i chose not to buy it lah...in my place is the only play safe song actually, tat's why xh felt cheated...i heard a few times, usually by the 3rd song i hear in an album, u will know if u like it..and the 1st time by the 5th song i still can't find anything good..so i dropped it and tried another time a few days later...still cannot lah...

Sometimes it's not easy also. Some fans expect you to change your style for every album, while some expect you to play safe and remain the same. Got change, they say should not have disturb the winning formula. No change, they say should have been more creative and break out of the shell.
What factors make you decide to go along the same vein for your next album, or break out of it for a radical change? -
